Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

oh man, i cant wait, i think i might buy a Wii just for that game, and with all the new charaters it should be awesome. only problem, no kratos, it makes me so sad

:'( :'( :'(
They did stop defining stats. In fact, it's your Augments after Level 70 that determine your stat gain. At least, that what one of the FAQs (really, the only FAQ) I read said happens. They have stat gains for Level 71-99 under "Augments," so...

Also, ToS2 sucks. I've seen the stuff on YouTube. It would've been better for them just to make a brand-new Tales game with the OCs and maybe the monster capturing gimmick. Otherwise, it's just an excuse to market it to a group of people who don't know about the rest of the series. Tales of Symphonia sold so well, they're like "LOL LETS MAKE ANUTHER ONE." Yeah, no. That's no reason to make sequels. Everything just seems pulled out of the rear end for this one. Even the music isn't that good. It's all rehashes of the first one's soundtrack, which really only had a few good tracks (like "Final destination," "Beat the angel," and "Walking on Tethe'alla"). There's maybe only one or two good tracks out of the entire ToS2 soundtrack. Sakuraba was slacking again on this one. <.<

As for the original Tales of Symphonia... I still haven't gotten past the first boss (or really even walked up to him). But that's only because I want to level like crazy. I've beat the game before, quite badly -- the final boss could barely move. But I lost my memory card, so...

I haven't been a fan of Sakuraba's music for some time, but the best track on the ToS soundtrack by far was that remix of Fighting of the Spirit. I love that one.

So yeah, I got one of these backloggery thingies. It seemed sort of interesting.

So what, are you supposed to put just the games you haven't finished in there to keep track of what you need to go back and play, or are you supposed to put in your whole collection, or what? I've just done the unfinished ones for now.

I heard Eternal Sonata is kick ass. I am so getting it when I sell my Playstation 3.. Just a few more days till the auction is done. :D Oh and I don't have one of those things.
The "Fighting of the Spirit" remix was a really good one. It's kind of hard to mess it up, though. Then again, there's, what, three remixes of it? (The update for ToP PSX, the ToS remix, and S.S.H. Live House's remix, which is epic hardcore rocking.)

I put my whole collection in, just so I had a sense of completeness. Plus, it shows what you do have and what you've already beaten, so you can compare what you still have to do to what you've already done. My 160 games is nothing, though. I saw a profile with 300 games, and another with 700+. It was insane.

Also, I want Eternal Sonata. It's one of my reasons to get a 360.
Eternal Sonata is coming the PS3, isn't it?

I think a sequal was a pretty good idea, no matter how crappy it could or could not be people will still buy it. It's like Dawn of the New World is Tales of Symphonia's Majora's Mask.

Nintendo no longer gives a fuck about gamers. It's making money hand over fist off of "casual" players.

It's the sad truth
Which is why we're all getting 360's before we get Wii's. To be honest, Wii has only got four games that I really want to get (not including "My Pokémon Ranch" and Mega Man IX): Brawl, Pkmn Battle Revolution, and the two Trauma Center games (Second Opinion and New Blood).

360 has: Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, SotN (on XBLA), Star Ocean 4, and a few others. That's at least six solid games. The only "next-gen" Nintendo system I have (and will continue to get stuff for) is my DS. And that is the gaming "console" from Nintendo for this generation. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, not to mention the metric ton of other franchises with games on it... It's better than getting a Wii. Only thing Wii is good for is Brawl. ... and Trauma Center, but that's neither here nor there. <.<
To tell you the truth, I am most excited about the VC, but that's because I am old and codgy.
Teller lost a point in strength when he levelled up for the first time just a while ago. Is that suppose to happen?

edit: In FFIV DS.
tsimehC: Yes, that is supposed to happen. He does lose stats as he levels up. It's a somewhat rare occurrence, though -- it only happens every once in a while, usually in Strength, Stamina, or Speed. Because he's getting old, obviously.

Oh... :(

This game is quite awesome in the cutscenes though especially with the voice acting. It's just so hard unless you level grind a bit. Rydia is the main danger when she joins early on but after 1/2 of power levelling, the enemies were manageable.

Dude you are supposed to PROTECT her. Set her to defend every round. It would be so helpful if Cecil could cover as a dark knight.

At least she doesn't start at level 1 like she did in the original!

Also it is SO COOL that Tellah gets physically weaker as he gains levels and never gains any MP and tires quickly because he's an old coot.
Tellah is now able to earn sufficient MP above 90, with sufficient level ups. (thus allowing meteor to be cast early.)
Taken from a list of changes between the SNES and DS versions from here. Though I can't confirm their validity, most everything else on the site seems to make at least some sense, so...
