ZELDA: GAME MAKER SUGGESTIONS?

I've been working on a Zelda game for a while. I have the bible, and a little pixelwork, but I've been having trouble deciding which maker I should go with. I've been considering RMXP/2K3 and also Game Maker, but I'm really open to anything and would just like to hear some other opinions.

It'll include the usual Zelda fare: items, minimaps, an HUD, and an ABS, as well as an instrument prompt for music-playing (à la Ocarina of Time); so if a certain program would favour implementation of any of those, I'd appreciate the input.
Well, you plan on making if with RM2k3, heres a nice starting template, with a chipset, items, all that kind of stuff, i found it off a tutorial site, and the author is "solitary angel"

Well I don't know exactly what your looking for but have you heard of Zelda Classic? It's a program that allows you to create very accurate Zelda games. It's probably quite limited (I know nothing about it) yet if thats the kind of style you want, it would require a lot less work and stress than RPG Maker.

I have looked at Zelda Classic, but from what I've seen it's way too limited for what I need. Thanks though.
I wouldn't suggest rm2k3 as its nearly impossible to make a good abs system thanks to its limitations. I don't really know much about making games with rmxp but it would still probably work better than rm2k3. You can actually code with ruby in it instead of using events.

I would suggest gamemaker as you could easily implement basic things like health and the abs system, and eventually make more complex minigames and such.
A good items system can be hard to set up with it though, and if you want to make more advanced things prepare to learn its .gml coding language.
If you use RMXP you can use my ABS. I can help. Even if its in RM2k3 I could help. I have been developing a Zelda game in RMXP and have a successful ABS without any scripting... and thats only because I am still learning how.
I've considered a zelda game so many times :) I hope that whatever you make it in, that it turns out well.

I'm not comfortable with any idea that can't be expressed in the form of men's jewelry

Don't use RM2k/3. Use either RMXP or RMVX. Ruby is a far more powerful and standardized language than Gamemaker's piece of hud.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. I've fooled around with Game Maker enough just enough to be annoyed with GML, so I'd gladly take Ruby even if it means extra coding to do.
