Hi guys. So I love these kinds of games. I play tons of indie games from many sites. I decided I would like to create my own. Since it is my first, I would prefer to use a free engine. Any preferences? I'd like some input before I start using them. :D
Thanks guys!

Depends on what kind of game you'd like to create. I think unity is one of the best free options, but I'm not a developer.
Maybe RPG Maker VX Ace Lite? It's got some restrictions on it, but, working within those restrictions to for a first-game-attempt (which should be a small project anyway) might not be a bad idea.
I have to second Unity as well. I been seeing some well good games for it this past year. Both 3D & 2D games. Sorry that I can't think of much when it comes to free.
Depends really on the genre you'll want to make games in.
For RPG's and related, I'd recommend either RMVXA Lite (Marrend's suggestion), or Wolfcoder's RPG 20XX
If you're okay with ActionScript, you can try Stencyl. I started off with this, and I can tell you that it's awesome enough! XD
Hell, you can make a game using PowerPoint or NotePad! (if you know what you're doing, that is)
Go ahead, and pick your poison.
Good luck! :D
