SO I’VE NOTICED THAT RMN HASN’T UPDATED ITS FACEBOOK OR TWITTER PAGE IN A WHILE

Yeah, March 5th, what’s up with that? I thought that you guys were on top of the ball on these sorts of things.

Either way, it’s not a massively huge deal, but I am curious: who’s in charge of updating that and how come there hasn’t been any updates in a while? It’s not like we haven’t had much to talk about on here lately.

I didn't even know RMN had a twitter account. Show how often I use my non-work one.
This site has basically become facebook and twitter. What would be the point? Why would you want to browse 3 different sites to get RMN related info?
Nessiah is in charge of Facebook (which is also linked to our Twitter), and Shinan is in charge of Twitter.

But my secret cabal has abandoned me, it appears. (when was the last time Deckiller posted even, for example?)

I think they are all tired and shagged out after a long squawk. That being the IGMC, of course.
Yeah, RMW poached all of my staff on me. Not that I'm bitter.
:<

I think Decky's been ill and over-worked with the IGMC. I'll give Nessy a poke if you want - she's mainly been doing commissions and her own work lately, I believe. I've not heard from Shinan lately, though. I figured real life kidnapped him.
To be honest since facebook was connected to twitter I sort of never did anything twitter-related. To the extent that I don't think I even have the password anywhere anymore :)

So if you @-replied to the twitter account in the last two years no one listened...
Well now that I am a hardcore-twit (I have like 68 followers or something!), maybe I will take that back over and make our twitter account all awesome and funny and relevant and hip and web 2.0 and proactive and synergy.
I'M A FAILURE AS A FACEBOOK ADMIN.

I do know I haven't been posting for a while but it is what Liberty said, I'm currently on a rough situation financially and have been busy (while raving at twitter sometimes when I'm stuck with baby).

But I have no excuses, I should update more often orz.

Understandable, considering your guys’ situations.

Either way, no rush, whenever you guys get the chance to update. I’d do it but I know nothing of the Twitters and the Facebook. (I don’t even have a phone, for god sakes!)

So yeah…take your time.

Basic marketing strategy disagrees with you. The point of having 'branch' versions of sites are to reach out to potentials who are already using another site that don't know about your site.
Fair point. But don't you have to follow someone on twitter to see the tweets? How exactly does twitter reach people who don't already know what RMN is? Or any other site for that matter. How do they make it onto the screens of those unknowns?
With twitter, the system of 'retweets' is what makes those gears move. So if I'm following RMN's twitter, and I 'retweet' something they posted, all of my friends now see RMN's tweet. Of those friends who would potentially dig RMN or RPG making now also see that tweet. They now also follow RMN's twitter account. Repeat from step one.

Facebook works off a similar paradigm, I found a lot of interesting pages and stuff by my friends 'liking' it, then I saw it and followed said page afterwards. It's very viral, cool stuff if its effectively utilized.
I see. But wouldn't stuff get lost in a sea of retweets? Unless you spam stuff, then I'd feel like a dick because I think people who do that on my friend list are dicks haha

I remember when I was more active in facebook there was way too much info coming up for me to follow it all. It felt like all I was doing is reading what other people were doing and not getting anything done myself. Although I guess when people talk about facebook addiction, that's the reason.

Bah. I'm generally against social media, and the way it's changing people. But hey, that's just me. As a marketing tool, and in moderation, it does seem worthwhile. Too bad it's already clogged up with shit.

If properly applied, no. Social media sites generally have pretty decent algorithms to prevent the average user seeing a bunch of retweets and likes, unless you just have really obnoxious friends, and what you see generally gravitates towards the friends you interact with most. If Craze likes a post by the Suikoden Revival Movement on Facebook, I'm likely to see it because I talk to Craze.

Yes, they call that 'fear of missing out' (seriously, look it up), and the generally accepted cure is 'going outside.' Social media can be dumb, but most of it is pretty user determined, you get out of it exactly what you put in and what you do with it.

Facebook has degenerated since its inception, but I still use it and still manage to have a weird ass, interesting exciting time with myself because I utilize it to my ends and generally still see interesting shit with it, because I use it, and I don't let it use me.
Speaking of social media, RMN now has a tumblr. I'll try to keep it up to date with what's going on in the site. So far so good, though.

Right here if anyone wants to check it out.
