IS THERE ANY SITE TO HOST FILES FOR FREE?
Posts
Basically not having to pay a fee to host files, I'm planning on gathering up all existing zelda sprites and custom sprites I can find should RMN ever need it in the future, and for the people over at Zelda Classic.
(Course there is a chance I might not have to if it all fits in my RMN locker).

If you sign up for any free web hosting service you get a certain amount of space to host files. Some of them give a decent amount of space.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

There are plenty of file storage sites. Bitshare and Rapidgator are ones I've used.
You can also mark Dropbox files as public, I believe?

There is a site called mediafire. It is awesome, the end?
I hate sites like Mediafire. They are full of ads, fake download buttons and usually force pop ups. Some of them have timers, so you gotta sit there and wait for a download. Mediafire should be obsolete by now.
Bitshare looks cool, with a ridiculous amount of space. But what does the page look like when you share a link/file?
I've never used Dropbox to share file, might be a good option.
There is nothing as simple as having your own webspace, unless you need more space than they offer. You can even make a simple html page with simple links to your files. Although some of those sites force ads on any page.

Just use a good adblocker and you will rarely have to see ads again. Also there are no timers or fake download buttons on mediafire.

Actually MediaFire is one of the few that doesn't have a timer for downloads, or indeed a wait period between downloads of anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours unlike uploaded, rapidshare, filefactory, rapidgator etc, and only one button for the download, no 'fake' options, which are prevalent on some of those free hosting sites. I believe it does have a pop-up but any run of the mill pop-up blocker will stymie that action. As someone trying to get files, Mediafire is actually one of my preferred, followed by Filefactory
Dropbox is a good option, but I do agree with you, getting the storage available with a free webpage is probably the best way to go, as long as you keep the page active.

Mediafire also has a time stamp which is perfect for when you need to check when a game was uploaded and whether it was updated after a certain point. That can come in super handy.
That said, just don't use Mega. Please. It's terribad.

>Not using an adblocker which cleanses all those problems.
Though if you are that deadset again sites with ads and are too lazy to get adblock+ or some such, then go with Dropbox I guess, while enjoying it's pitiful storage cap.
Adblockers are great, not only do they remove popups, ads and push buttons, but they also entirely dispel adverts at the beginning of youtube videos.
Only a newbie or a stubborn idiot would refuse to use one. They basically cure Internet cancer.
Well, I'm not a newb and I'm not NOT using one out of stubbornness. It was never that bad for me that I needed to get one. Although if it removes ads from youtube videos that's reason enough for me to get one.
Ads on youtube are the reason I got an adblocker! It was ridiculous - ads should never be longer than the video you are trying to watch and shouldnt interrupt a video nor should it cover 1/3rd of the video 20 secs in. Adblockers are the only thing that makes Youtube usable and bearable anymore.
I dont mind ads on other sites I visit.
Also screw you if you adblock RMN. I need that 30 cents!

I don't see the ads on RMN, but then I donated, so....
I prefer uploadingit.com. You can also lock files and make people require a password to access them. Don't know if other sites can do that, but its neat.

RMN is the only site I don't adblock... though I also donated so I don't see ads either. XD

There's a solution to that... it's called Makerscore. MS is life. MS is love. MS is locker space.
Your locker should have plenty of room to put stuff in and you can always made a donation to the website to make it bigger. In addition gathering Maker Score also adds space to your locker.
Or you could just make a gamepage for it instead and use the fairly generous hosting capacity of RMN. There are a few game pages out there that aren't actually for games, but for things like engines or resources,
like
http://rpgmaker.net/games/327/
http://rpgmaker.net/games/1353/
but of course Lady Liberty would have to approve...most of these are years old and perhaps that sort of thing doesn't get allowed anymore.
now that sounds like a tagline.

Another good reason to do more things around here - free locker space! :D
I mean, take me as an example: After donating to RMN and getting up to the makerscore that I currently have right now, I have around 192 MB’s of lockerspace – which is quite a lot, IMO! I would imagine that those who are in the 5K and 10K club have even much more than that.
Although, I guess the downside to hosting your stuff on here is that, one, it takes quite a while to amass that much makerscore over time (although it depends on how much work you do around here) and, two, one bad review after receiving a semi-good one for one of your games could drop that lockerspace down by quite a bit. But, hopefully, if your gamesmanship skills are pretty good - that probably won’t be much of an issue. :D
