[RMVX ACE] SHARED HEALTH / MANA POOL IN BATTLE?

I don't have VX Ace but I'm considering picking it up very soon, I just wanted to check one thing first. Would it be possible to script a battle system where you controlled several party members, but they shared an HP / MP pool among all three of them?

I have a decent amount of programming experience, I just don't know if something like this is possible or practical to script in VX Ace... thank you :D
A quick and dirty work-around would be to link all of the character's hp's, and then just hide the other hp bars from view.

Based on that: yeah, I think it's possible. I've the slightest of how to do it though :/

It would involve variables likely.

Actor 1's HP = Variable 1
Actor 2's HP = Variable 2
Actor 3's HP = Variable 3

Variable 1+2+3 = Party's HP = Variable 4

Then you would need to hide the HP bars, and show the health bar based
on the 4th variable. And if this variable is 0 all party members die.

Edit:
I realized another issue with this is that this would need to work outside of battle as well.

It's not terribly difficult if you set it up right. You'd want to access Game_Actor and just make each actor set the other actor's HP equal to their own, when their HP changes. No addition or anything wonky like that; and it still causes them to die naturally at 0 HP instead of needing obnoxious event-like coding.
