SEEKING A CERTAIN KIND OF SOUND EFFECTS

Back in the day I played a lot of RPG Maker games. A LOT of those RPG Maker games had a LOT of sound effects that seemed to be very brief voice/SFX samples culled from dozens and dozens of animes and Japanese fighting games and whatnot of various degrees of popularity/obscurity with a western audience. If you've played a dozen or more RPG Maker games then you know the kind, I think. Generally these were used for grunts of exertion/non-verbal vocalizations, battle cries and "move call-outs" in combat, magical incantations and chants, and whathaveyou.

Now I will admit in the past I have certainly not really been a huge fan of using these kinds of sound effects in games but that's neither here nor there at the moment.

Basically I've just become really curious where people find these sfx or found them back in the day. None of the obvious googley moogley I could think of googling worked at all. Perhaps someone who is of a more, shall we say Japanophile persuasion, or at least who was back in the day, could help me out. Where on the internet did these things come from? I have a feeling there's a conveniently gigantic collection or two kicking around somewhere.
There is another thread here on RMN with sound effects ripped from dozens of games. Not sure if any are anime, but computer games are good sources for sounds as long as they store their music in a conventional file type. Although there is probably complex ways to extract the ones that aren't. Plus if you can turn the music volume on a game to 0, you can use any audio program to record the sounds directly from the game. A lot of console emulators are good for that because you can toggle channels.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Back in the day it was easy to find crap like this on any number of Geocities websites that stole them from any number of other Geocities websites in a perpetual circle. These days it can be harder, since the MPAA and Sony and everyone else started giving websites shit about this sort of thing.

http://www.sounds-resource.com/ has a bunch of rips from games and http://freesound.org has a bunch of free open-source sound effects. Best I got.

thanks for the quick responses guys : )
Btw, that thread I mentioned was recent. You should be able to find it quickly. It's really quite amazing. You could probably even find it by looking at my post history. Some of the zips contain over 500 sound effects and there's dozens of games. Age of Empires, Doom, old PC games. Probably not anime, but still useful.

Link, I tried searching through your post history and could not find the thread. How recent is recent? Which subforum?

Edit: Ah, I found it...July isn't that recent. : P
