CloseI'm quite happy to know that the original Final Fantasy will receive a new makeover! With mode7-ish 3D graphics on the 3DS, the game will now be compatible with the 3D feature 8D

Am I the only one who thinks it would be really cool if you could choose the gender of your party member, along with unique sprites for male and female variants of the classes? :D
All in all this looks really cool, though I don't know how many copies of FF1 I need on different systems. I've already got several XD

Yeah! That would definitely be cool. Heck, there are so many other ways in which they could expand and enrich the gameplay and setting in FF1 to a more up to date one!
Totally! Adding more cool little options and details would really get me excited to play the game again. ^_^

We get it, Square Enix, you used to be cool! Instead of trying to show us how awesome that one game is by giving it to us over and over again, how about you move on and put the time and effort into making a good Final Fantasy game!

Do we really need another Final Fantasy I remake? After beating the hell out of it on GBA I've never had a reason to play it again.
At least it's not another FFIV remake/port...

Yeah, let's not have them touch FF7. Compilation of FF7 was already one of the worst things they've ever done, if they remake 7 in the era of 15 the animu pretty boy dial will be turned up to infinity and the whole thing will wind up being an extended cut of Advent Children.
Also Liberty, you're forgetting the GBA ports of 5 and 6, which are excellent. Mystic Quest is actually a really good idea though! I completely forgot about that game.

They did remake Final Fantasy 7.
They just took out the overworld. And the Materia. And the side quests. And the interesting towns/cities. And changed around the story. And switched Cloud's gender. And changed the names of all the main characters. And took out all their likeability.
And they thought it was such a good idea that they made 2 sequels.

YEAH MYSTIC QUEST! A chibified 3D remake (with character proportions akin to RPG Maker 2 for PS2) respecting all the camera angles for battle and field would be pretty neat! And its field gameplay has so much room for expansion! Adding 3D physics to them would make it pretty rad! Oh gosh. Give love to Mystic Quest. Pwease.
But hey, a 3D FF1 remake with REALLY updated gameplay and setting would also be welcome.

EDIT2: I'm honestly afraid of a FF6 3D remake. Unless they get a team like Bravely Default's team. Because FF6's aesthetics are so carefully crafted, a poor translation to 3D would easily break the game.

Man, Mystic Quest had some sweet music.
Final Fantasy 1 was great for its time, but it's not that good of a game. It didn't warrant one remake, let alone two (or is it more than that now?). I'll join the updated Final Fantasy 7 crowd: current gen graphics, faster combat, and a proofread script. Yes. Give it to me.

Wasn't there a Final Fantasy Mystic Quest remake? Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Remastered. It was through an RPG Maker-like engine, but, it was officially sanctioned by Square Enix and sold through Steam. Wasn't it? Dark Design Games was the producer.

No. It's purely a fan game and uses all RTP/non-MQ graphics. It was distributed on Virtual Wii (which is actually not allowed when it comes to the RM engine - which it was made in).

I'm pretty sure Square just want to release the original on every gaming hardware possible. Seriously they've ported this game to everything, PSP, PSOne, iOS, Android, Windows phone, GBA, mobile(Before the App Store, etc) PS3, Vita & now 3DS!?

I own it on the NES and never bothered to get a port of it... so I'll pass this one.

It was quite a nice remake, however. Just a little too ambitious, and delivered a little less than it promised.
Gah, they could've made it a little bit more open, I'd totally have wanted to help'em.
Maybe I should study some RGSS and do the Mystic Quest systems on RMVXA, along with a graphic pack and a kind of stage select option. So it wouldn't be a remake, just a new idealization of the systems or whatever. Hmm.
Yeah. That'll be my RGSS training project. (and yeah. It has been done. Better than the remake, btw.)

The PS1 FF1 was the best of the remake/ports, it was closest to the original game with bug fixes and UI improvements (fuck buying potions one at a time). The rest just didn't rub that nostalgia itch before it got ran into the ground and I quit caring. Looks just like the rest too besides the cheap 3d effect.
