thought i'd ask here first because i might know somebody (DE, Clest, others)
been teaching myself pix on and off for the past year but i want to learn faster so i'm looking for some instruction. maybe exchange edits or do some screen sharing or whatever. i'll pay and stuff, can work out rate/times whenever
here's how far i've gotten, i'm not satisfied and feel like i'm hitting a wall with what the art theory i've studied is letting me do, i know stuff is wrong because things feel bad to me but don't have the experience to identify and correct it
i am willing to eat less plain rice this month to learn
SPRITES
Aristocrat madmen sprites
Girl sprite w/joke "walk cycle"
Soldier sprites
ENVIRONMENTS
Light animation
Mansion tileset
Stairs
Older Urban tileset
if you're really good at color/sprites/environments/value/etc and think you might be an effective teacher (no pressure) drop me a line
ps: i could probably also teach high level music theory as payment if anyone wanted that instead of human money

Omg your stuff is really good! I'm not sure if I have the knowledge it takes to actually ~~teach~~ you as you seem to be pretty damn good. But that was a first impression, ne? If you want, I can help you. Just drop a PM with your current blocks and I'll see what I can do! Though, again, you're already pretty damn good! The better we are, the harder it gets for someone to teach you... Because it becomes less about technique, and more about personal preferences :3
I've been told that I'm good at value/colour/palette choice but holy crap I am an awful teacher. Your stuff looks pretty damn good though, reminds me of Treasure of the Rudras.
In my own eyes I don't really see anything wrong with the palettes you chose for the tilesets in particular. Maybe the sprites could have a little better colour, just because of how small they're going to be on the screen.
Besides all that, our styles are so vastly different that I'm not sure I could do much to help even if I could effectively teach it. I don't know a whole lot about making realistic or high detail pixels.

The sample sprites' lighting is not perfectly logical but you know how to use shades to define shapes.
Some of the tiles looks like edits of existing material but otherwise are very good.
I don't know if paying a mentor would really be more helpful than reading tutorials and simply looking at various games' graphics. Whether someone guides you or not, I believe that practice is still the best way to improve.

Going with a mentor is a good way to go. (You should have about 3 mentors in your life at any given time). s_w and Despain also are helpful spriters around here. Despain has some pixel tutorials at final boss blues: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/9908/
I tried starting there but it was far too advanced for my skills atm, but it looks like you're there.
I have no comments on the character sprites (as I am horrid at them). The stairs and urban tileset are great (except the sign...), but for the mansion, I fell like the contrast between the light and dark greens is too great for the floor tiles, and the rug looks especially velvety.
Good luck!

Ah, the artist's curse... Never satisfied with their own work. Some say it's a sign of improvement, as by the time you're done with a piece your skills have already improved to the point in which you can see it's flaws. I say it's annoying as hell.
Just here to wish you the best of luck (and subscribe for future reference in case some interesting learning material pops up).
