GREETINGS, PEOPLE OF TEH INTERNETSLAND...
Posts
Hi everyone.
LONG time player of JRPGs and RPGs in general.
I played, conquered and loved Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior/Quest the years they came out, and it has led to a lifetime addiction/fandom of the genre. Also grew up with a bit of AD&D (2nd edition.)
i'm 33, I have blue hair, i'm a femmey goth mom, European/Persian/Mediterranean/Native decent, and on the intersexed and trans spectrums (I just look like a chick, though i'm physically hermaphrodite.) I am also married to a pretty woman that looks a lot like me, and am lesbian-identified.
i'd like to bring my unique sets of perspectives to the community both as a player and maker. I have a 1 year old, and would probably love to make her some simple activity games to learn from.
my favorite series of all time (so far,) is the SaGa series, though Shim Megami Tensei is currently challenging that seat, which is amazing, as SaGa, especially part 7, SaGa Frontier (which was the last GOOD one,) have held that slot for half of my life or so.
RPGs I am currently enjoying playing include Shin Megami Tensei IV, Pokémon X, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, and Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl.
my favorite GENRE would have to be Rogue-likes, and I really do love a good, near impossible challenge level true Rogue-like to keep me sharp. (I LOVED "Powder.")
ironically, my fav games (aside from Mystery Dungeon,) are NOT Rogue-likes, as I feel like the genre is GREAT, but so obscure that the only real masterpieces thus far are Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (the 3DS one is just amazing,) and the Diablo series.
I would LOVE to known for making a GREAT Rogue-like, but really, i'm here to play first.
I have a practice game going on the PS1 RPGMaker titles "Bunghole Saga 3," though that software is so limited. I'm partly here to decide which version of the PC software to eventually buy...

Hello, and welcome to RMN! Personally, Id suggest RPG Maker VX Ace if you're looking to stick with a good commercial rpgmaker, though some may suggest RPGMaker XP instead. As for VX... Id pass that up because its just an inferior version of VX Ace.
werd.
I think I had read that, though I need to play games made with each to see how they come out.
thanks.

If you cant find an exe file to run because of windows hiding the extension, make it so you can see the .exe, or look for RPG_RT or Game, depending on what it was made with.
Hey, welcome to the site! ^.^
If you need some good games to play, here's a link to the Full Game's List. Already tagged Complete and Download available for you - you can pick categories, engines and ratings too.
And here's the Featured Games list which are all completed games that got spotlighted for being worth playing. ^.^)b

btw, do I need to upload my user pic to a hosting site, and then link the URL to the "bio pic" text entry field?
i'm like, not totes N00B, but just never really had a lot of reason to sharpen my PC skills beyond basic browsing and file sharing until now.

...and RPG_RT did indeed unzip and then run "Pom Gets Wi-Fi."
I am very much enjoying myself so far and learning a lot.

Welcome to our slice of non-headspace!
If you're a fan of roguelikes check out the Android apps Dungelot and Pixel Dungeon if you haven't already done so.
On the RM side of things, I haven't played it yet but check out The Descent.
Edit: I meant non-meatspace and my phone autocorrected, though given a few of the posts here I may have been right the first time. :P

If you hover over your name on the black bar (top left) you'll see a link called Locker. Clicking that will take you to a place where you can upload files like images to your own personal space on the site. If you upload your image there, then click the link image (the little chain link to the left of the file you uploaded) it'll give you the file link. Just paste that into the field for your avatar. ^.^
Also, if you've more to add after posting something, we ask that people use the edit buttons below their posts (multiposting tends to clutter up the forums and makes things a bit awkward to read.) It's fine if the site bugs out on you - it can do that sometimes - but in the case you need to add more, the Edit button is there and loves being used. ;p

Welcome to the site! It would be totally awesome to get your perspective incorporated into games! :D Also, blue hair owns XD
right on.
I DO want to stress that even though I need to use like 80 minority labels to self describe, the map is NOT the terrain, and hence, I come to this community PRIMARILY as a GAMER.
so yeah, my perspective is here, but I want to try and never let it get in the way of making/enjoying good/great games and communication.
we're all human(oid at least) here, and we all love this meta-medium of play, activity and storytelling.
lets kick some ass, my people.
also, this literally seems like the largest nerd-themed board I've ever seen where everyone appears to be this supportive and polite. i'm really psyched.

Just Ziggy will do. Also, just give yourself a lil time understanding how your system works and don't be afraid to pose questions to your preferred search engine.
Edit: As you can probably tell by my avatar, blue is my favorite color, so kudos on the choice of hair color, however irrelevant that may sound coming from lil ol me. XD
's cool Ziggy. ;)
honestly though, this thing keeps happening: I dye it blue, and it fades to this amazing green.
the irony is growing up, I was raised male (sort of. I wasn't parented much, so I take liberties with the word "raised,") and when I realized that I was female identified, Terra Brandford, the green haired half-esper from FF6 ended up being the woman-in-fiction that I wanted to grow up to look like.
on top of that, Yoshitaka Amano is my fav illustrator evar. my current user pic is his original design for her, but I have to say, I felt the design choice to make her hair green actually made the character far more memorable.
without even trying to do it consciously, I ended up looking like Terra.
I now realize that the story of a strange woman that is half something else is just too fitting. life man, this shit just happens.
I want to cosplay her some 'ween or something.
but yeah, i'm not afraid to admit I don't know something digital, and I be abusin' da Googlemancy pretty fierce right now.
i'm just proud I got Space Funeral to run, lol.
this is some fun stuff, gais.

Amano is a legend, and clearly you have good taste in art it looks like. Also, FF6 for the win.
