So the version of ACE I won during RMN Plays has some issues that the old version I was using didn't.

One of those issues is that it seems to need Steam to be open to run it. I don't like that at all. Any way to disable that?

Anyway, the other issue is that the HP condition for enemy actions is no longer working properly. No matter what range of HP percentage I put in, it displays either 0% ~ 0% or 0% ~ 107293248% (or some such nonsense number) anyway. What gives? Anyone know of a fix for this? Is breaking this function some kind of insane reverse psychology pro-piracy feature?

If anyone from Enterbrain et al. is reading this it sure would be nice if a brother could get an orc to drink a potion when his HP is low without your @#$%^&* program shitting the bed like this.
uhh... I think it's just a visual glitch? Did you actually test it?
Yeah I actually had this happen too. I have no idea what's going on.
Maybe check on RMW - they are the official site, after all, and are more likely to know what's going on on that front.
Remember the control variable bug introduced when VX was localized?

It's just a visual bug. It's been in the steam version as long as I remember.

Yeah, purely editor-side. When you open up the enemy action to adjust the HP thresholds, it should correctly display the values you entered.

As far as I can tell, no. I only have the Steam version, so I totally forgot these were actual issues until you pointed them out. As long as Steam is still installed in your computer, you'll be fine except if you're offline. Though there is a workaround: If you just go to your project directly and open the RPGVXAce Project file, it should open up your game in the editor. I've done that when I'm offline and I can work just fine.

... But yeah. If I had known that I had needed Steam to run this, I would have gotten it from somewhere else.

Oh, do I ever. Who could ever need VARIABLES to make a game? ha ha ha ha

(IIRC you made me a fix for it back in 2008.)

Yeah, purely editor-side. When you open up the enemy action to adjust the HP thresholds, it should correctly display the values you entered.

Ok so if I have it set to 1 ~ 40% and it displays 0% ~ arglebarglegibberish%, the enemy will still do the indicated action (i.e. the condition will still be met) when their HP falls to 40% or below?

If so that's...still annoying (especially since the ahem free version did not have this bug), but substantially less so.
I'm pretty sure it's purely a display error and it still works fine.

Set up my test enemy to use Guard when below half health, which it did consistently, despite the 0% ~ gibberish% display.
As long as Steam is still installed in your computer, you'll be fine except if you're offline.

You can still run Ace if you're offline. A box comes up and you can click, run offline, or something and access it.

It's a little annoying, but not that big a deal to have steam running to rpg make.

Yeah, it's a Steam-exclusive bug. The Degica version doesn't do that!

That said, Steam often puts resource packs at sale prices. A worthy trade.

Just noticed another modestly infuriating problem with the Steam version. I can only open one 'instance' of VX Ace at once. That makes it much more of a chore to, for instance, copy paste things from one of my projects to another since I can't have two projects open side by side.
