In all my years with RPG Maker, I've never had this problem. Hell, in all my years of farting around on a computer, I've never had this problem with any applications of any kind. Why now?
This isn't your average fare application crash, no, this is a straight up "I'm going to bed, nighty night" computer failure. The damn thing shuts itself off while I'm gaming. I tried playing in windowed mode to see if that'd help, but nope. Now this has me worried that it'll be gunning for RM2k3 next, being the one I still use and intend to use for as long as development on Tales from Zilmurik should take and for as long as I want to go back and play it without having to worry about compatibility problems. I count myself fortunate that I was able to squeeze Mystic Dawn out before this whole shebang.
"But Corfaisus, why not just use RMVX Ace?" No! Fuck that noise! Even if I had all the resources to do so, fuck no. Fiddling around with Ace is like rolling a handful of thumbtacks: blood, sweat and tears with nothing to show for it (I'm surprised that - even with all the sacrifices I made - I was even able to get this done).

~ Ah yeah, baby, gimme summa dat!
Who the hell uses layers anyway, right, Enterbrain? Peeps in 95 got along well without them. Midis? Oggs are the way of the future, dude.
EDIT: Do you think McAfee might be the problem? I hate the fucking thing because it slows down my computer substantially and I'm starting to wonder if it recently got an update that just hates the old RPG Makers. Maybe? I dunno. Even Ad-Aware popped up with false positives with the RPG_RT.exe files of Rm2k3 games that I'd download. Maybe that's it? I'd really like to think so.

Great hustle, guys.
We don't owe you hustle. It's been a fucking day and half. You sound like those impatient twats that submit their games and complain the next day that nothing is getting done.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Link, don't be a dick, he's allowed to make snide remarks. Though I'm pretty sure almost everyone who reads this is gonna be in the same boat as Corfaisus: scratching their heads.
Your computer literally just powers off? There's not even a blue screen of death or anything? If this also happens with commercial games, it sounds like your video card might be overheating. If it's only RM2K, it sounds like... maybe you need an exorcism or something.
Suddenly just not being turned on definitely sounds like hardware failure of some sort.

Fuck McAfee. I use the default Windows thing (Essentials and now Defender), and it seems ok. McAfee is frequently loaded with spamware files, so I don't think much of it.
Screenshots help. If you can show whether it gives you an error, closes, or just goes BSOD, this helps.

You're not renowned for contributing a whole lot of positive anything to the community, anyway. Besides, 30 hours without a single post of any sort? I'm not waiting for my game to be accepted or anything; this is sparking conversation on an issue that gets in the way of game development in a forum frequented by more than a couple of people. If this kind of thing garners no attention, there's no need for a forum.
Get off your high horse.
But yeah, the computer just powers down. This doesn't happen with anything else, so I don't know what could be causing it. A "screenshot" would be a picture of my computer being off. I recently ran a scan of my RPG Maker folder just in case McAfee needed to know that everything was on the down-low and the problem didn't rear it's ugly head last night, but I'm gonna let it sit a little more tonight to see if it wasn't just a fluke.
Either way, I'm too scared shitless to get back to work on my big game until this gets resolved.

IMO there's almost a 100% chance that's faulty hardware. When software issues crash your computer you get a blue screen of death. I'm just not sure what kind of faulty hardware would only be triggered by RPG Maker games. Sound card overheats during midi playback maybe? Video card overheats when handling ultra-low resolutions? Ambient heat from your crotch superheating the laptop because you get so turned on by how good your own game is?
If he's allowed to make snide remarks, so am I. As if he hasn't been a dick in recent memory.
If there is no error message, there isn't much to go on. You wrote a whole lot in that post and there's only 1 small detail of what is actually happening. Pretty unlikely there is any way for anybody to figure this out. If you think it's Macaffe, disable it.
You didn't explain anything about exactly when it's happening. If it's always the same spot. Have you done anything at all to try and resolve it?
