This is really awesome. The Mega64 thing is funny, but this interview is the real meat here.

Thanks for this! That interview was pretty interesting. I was hoping to see him talk more on the future of RPGs as he sees it, but all we got was a brief mention of cell phone games. The history aspect was great, though.

Glad you liked it. I was watching Final Fantasy stuff almost all day yesterday. I found a series of reviews that reviewed every game up to 8 it was interesting but I didn't want to overload the post with too many vids.
I hope Sakaguchi returns to making console games like Last Story he did seem willing to do so in that interview.

Terra Battle (Sakaguchi's latest thing) is pretty good, even as a cash grab mobile game, and one of the "stretch goals" is supposedly a console version of it. Or a new console game set in the same universe. Either way, I welcome it and its proliferation of lizardmen.
I am also somewhat shocked that Mega64 is still a thing; I bought their first DVD about 12 years ago and promptly forgot about them. I am even more shocked that they could get the man himself. Good on them!
