[RMVX ACE] THE PERFECT OFFENCE TO DETER PEOPLE FROM OVER LEVELING

Working on a rpg. Before each level there is sign board before each stage with the recommended level and maximum level on it. Looking for an offensive work or name calling to deter people from grinding, such as maximum level 3 for loosers, sort of like the pink belt in one of the ninja gaiden games.

Now what would be the perfect work or name calling that is would not be too offensive but offensive enough.
...Why not just disable levelling above the recommended level, a la Wyrm Warriors? Set level cap, raise it after boss battle.

Or give awards if they're on a certain level when they fight the boss. Since boss battles are evented, have a checker see what level your heroes are on and after the battle give them a reward based on that. If they're over the level, how about something like a 'raw cod' (like the fish) and if they over-achieve for every boss battle, they can use the raw fishes to create the Fish Blade which is floppy and they're forced to use it on the last boss battle. ;p

I want people to be able to grind if they are absolutely sure they cannot beat a stage with the recommended level. Its is a very tiny game, I have nothing to give away except for maybe money. But after the shops are bought out money wont even matter. And if they grind they will at the end still end up with lots of money.

Just let your players be. Some people like that safety net of being overlevelled. Some players will do it deliberately, some will have it happen by accident.

I've found that grinding is something that players make an active choice to do even in the best balanced games, so there isn't much you can do to discourage it and name calling is kind of a low blow.
Yeah, most of the games I play for any length of time have some sense of grind.

Grind can be a good thing, because it breaks the story and gives you something to work at. Generally speaking, the big mistake of gring is to make dungeons based around it. Dungeons should have several things slowing you down, and be a varied mix of battles, puzzles, and other.

Here's a hint on how to make things better though.

Make grind irrelevant. Certain monsters should have high def you can overcome. But some might be almost immune to physical attacks, and resistant to magic, requiring a puzzle approach to win against. With this in mind, grind may help you survive, but it will do nothing until you figure out how to win. If some normal enemies also require some strategy, you can no longer hack and slash your way through.

I use this method by having an NPC tell you of the dangers to come if you're underleveled for the area. If you're right level or over then he says something different, maybe even a helpful hint to combat the new monsters.

Also, it would be helpful if you told us what kind of game this is so maybe we can help with appropriate titles for these "name callings"

edit: But you can't go wrong with "Fledgling" it's offensive in the sense that you're young in the arts of combat without being overly straightforward like "kid" or "child"
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I Wanna Be The Guy made you wear a pink hairbow for the entire game if you played on easy mode. That was one of my favorite punishments.

This topic should really be in game design & theory.
Also, if it really concerns you, you can have experience handed out after battle by experience. When the character becomes too tough, you reduce exp.
