if any one is familiar with the rpg maker 2003 system there are a lot of defaults that you can change. like the skiff the ship and airship. but what i want to do is to make it look like the hero is sitting in the boat. so i though simple right i'll make an empty boat sprite then a sprite with the hero in the boat. but it's not as easy as it sounds.

so this is what i started with no hero in the boat and with the hero in the boat

i tried an event making the boat sprite change when the hero got in the boat but i just got the hero in two places like in the 3 photo. so if someone can help me i would appricate it

Good question: I can help you make it happen, but I don't know how to undo it so that you can land with the vehicle sprite you want.
Make your vehicle sprite the animation with the hero in the boat. Create an event with two pages for the empty boat sprite. The coding should be as follows:
On the second page, check the box under preconditions to turn the switch on.
That'll do what you've asked for. As for landing, I don't know. RM2k3 is really tricky about vehicles. What I ended up doing in a test game was setting up docks. Instead of using the vehicle system, I had the vehicle graphic set up on the regular map, and when you triggered it, it changed the character sprite association to the vehicle graphic and transferred to a map where water was passable but land wasn't. I then set up dock points along the way which would transfer my character back to a regular map and switched the sprite association back to the main character. The point? Boats couldn't just land anywhere.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Run a parallel process. In the parallel process, check if the player is riding the skiff. If so, change the skiff graphic to the graphic with the character on it. If not, change the skiff graphic to the graphic without the character on it.
