Hey guys! CLAMP is a japanese Manga creator group known for their engrossing and genre-defying works. They've been there until the early 90's doing some of the most gorgeous manga and anime out there, which according to myself have a certain amano-like appeal to them.

Do you know their works? Which is your favourite? Have you ever drawn inspiration from them?
Examples from their works: Card Captor Sakura, X/1999, Tokyo Babylon, Rayearth, and so on. (it's a lot.)
;w; <3~

I find Card Captor Sakura to be adorable, and I've been meaning to check out Rayearth. I saw the X/1999 movie once upon a time, and seem to remember it being a bit of a mess, but with some cool ideas in it. I also like their character designs for Code Geass.
I didn't get much into Chobits. I found Chii to be a bit on the dull side as far as female characters go. She was cute and all, she just seemed to severely lack depth, so she just wasn't all that interesting. Dunno if that was ever changed as the story went on.
I played Magic Knight Rayearth, the game, when I was a lot younger and enjoyed it very much. It's a pretty good RPG and the story is nice too. The ending caught me completely by surprise, for some reason, and I just remember having a good time with it. I've been meaning to go back and either watch the anime or read the manga one of these days.
Chobits, I own. Not my favourite anime - I've only watched it once with no desire to watch it again - but I liked the ending and how it was very light-hearted but with a touch of dark towards the ending. It was a bit too fanservicey for my liking, though.
Blood-C was pretty cool, though I only watched a few episodes. I'm afraid vampires just don't do it for me. (It was a collaboration.)
Cardcaptor Sakura was my jam when I was in highschool. I really liked the cuteness and the designs of the characters and though it was very formulated in the story line I enjoyed it a lot. Enough to go back and read the manga a few years later when I was going through my 'very cute shoujo' phase. (Tokyo Mew Mew was the bomb~<3 And Shugo Chara~)
That said, I had a fellow anime friend irl who recommended Tsubasa Chronicle but I just couldn't get into it. Then again, she also recommended Prince of Tennis and a few other hentai/boys-love anime/manga and while I have nothing against them, I can only really read certain ones of that genre. Yaoi manga art scares me. ;.;

I haven't gotten much on Chobits either, and I've just started ~watching~ rayearth.
I tried playing the game a couple years ago but it felt kinda awkward, gameplay-wise. I'm gonna try again because I really like the anime's storyline and vibe! :^D
And the anime does feel like an rpg!
CLAMP takes the trumph of being the only manga authors that managed to make me cry. (well madoka did to but it's not a manga >:^) )
Recently I've read both Kobato and Tokyo Babylon; they're both very beautiful (and different from eachother) stories that somehow managed to wet my eyes at least once every chapter. Especially so with Tokyo Babylon. It's amazing. ;-;
and <3 SAKURA <3 yeah if you're not into shojo then sakura's gonna be kinda boring for you. but it's simply delightful. What I like about CLAMP's works is how everything cohesively fits with their beliefs and everything, for example, I was watching Rayearth and noticed how strong the theme of "If you believe, it is the truth" theme was on Cephyr. The girls could only use their magic if they truly believed. That was esp evident on the part where one of them shoots an arrow at that dark stone. It sounds like stock manga stuff, but once I've seen it I immediately thought "I see what you did there". there's a kind of appeal and depth behind every single of their stories.
Another interesting thing is that all their stories happen in the same multiverse, some even sharing the setting. It's pretty cool. I haven't read much of xxxHolic or Tsubasa because I'm not fond of large mangas, but I probs should...
also @liberty yaoi art is so beautiful come on
