So, does anyone here have played it by chance? Because I downloaded it recently, and I think it's really good!
And addictive also! I made more progress into this than the progress I made with actual gammak... XD

It is highly addictive, yes. There's another game like it that is more detailed (and a lot harder) on steam too.
(It is NOT Game Tycoon. Be warned - that game is complete bullshit. Play at own risk.)

I haven't played the game, but I've watched Let's Plays on YouTube and while they seem funny, Game Dev Tycoon doesn't seem to have as much depth as the iOS game Game Dev Story. The latter seems like an actual simulator with balanced gameplay, whereas the first is more like a statement on game development as a whole.
Game Dev Story is AMAZING.
Guys... it's basically a more detailed version of Game Dev Tycoon. Literally. There are a few small differences and the challenge is ramped up a bit, but it's the same bloody thing - a rip-off of GDT. XD
Sure, it's addicting, but so was GDT. They're both great games. Man... my and Nessy's LP would have been perfect to link to this thread. We did a 4 hour LP of Story, only to lose it all thanks to sound issues. ;.; We failed wonderfully. And by we I mean the game company RMN which stuck to naming every game with the initial RMN. Man, I'm still amazed at how well Raging Man Nipples did.

Too bad. It would have been great to see that LP... XD
As cool as these sound, I think I'll avoid them, or else I will indeed lose time on my real game development by playing simulated game development XD
Pfffffffffffffffffffffffft! You gave me the giggles!

I'd like to point out that Game Dev Story came out before Game Dev Tycoon by two years... if you count the mobile release of Story. The original version of Game Dev Story was a Windows game released only in Japan back in 1996. Kairosoft would need a time machine to be a rip off of Tycoon in either case.
I own Game Dev Tycoon. It's fun, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned how it's super buggy. Most of the buttons aren't actually where they are drawn, it hangs for several seconds fairly often, and text input gets bugged out from time to time.
It's fun, but it could have incubated for a few months more. I've tried it on both OS X and Windows, same results.

Maybe you own Game Tycoon 1.5 - that game is a complete piece of shit. Seriously, I want a refund. And yeah, it's super buggy with buttons not actually working and text issues and... actually, you probably are talking about that shit knock-off game.

That's weird, because I didn't experimented any of those bugs so far...
EDIT: Oh. That's why... XD
