OBAMA '08 FUND RAZOR

Consumption will only increase, that's not even debatable. China's GDP per capita is still pretty low, but rising like crazy. Richer people consume more, period. And since China has 2398293482938470928374 people, every cent of increase in GDP per capita has a big impact on world prices.
Why are discussing supporting Obama when he's already won? (yay)
We could be discussing real topics...

...like dissing McCain
btw, he's old and white. what's not to hate?

Don't underestimate the power of young liberal voters who don't know that they need to actually physically vote instead of just hope for him to win.
Hint: Old people really really like voting.
all I know is that utah has at least one oil refinery of it's own, and our gas prices are still 4th highest in the united states. I don't trust gas companies for a second. There's no short in supply of oil, drilling more isn't going to do a goddamn thing.
I hope the government invest more money in finding a more enviromental-friendly energy source. Like have cars use solar panels that recharge the car. And have the car run on that recharged energy all day, maybe a week.
Lol

But this topic is supposed to be about Obama. I already gave him munee so pffft.
He could always use some more!
I should get Sally Struthers to do some infomercials for me. "For more pennies a day, you can own a part of a historic presidency."
The thing is, the only real competition was Clinton. Since he is now the only Democratic candidate, and ~70% of the nation is democratic, he's got it. Also, his GEP (GOP? GAP? Are they all wrong?) approval rating is around 88% - That's higher than JFK!
And JFK was one of the best presidents ever, even with the cheating on his spouse thing (it didn't make him any less of a prez!)

I think you may have had a kool-aid overdose.
In America, more citizens identify themselves as conservative (Republican... in theory) than liberal (Democrat), usually by a solid 36% to 29% margin or so, with the remainder going independent. Granted, Democrats are organizing a massive voter registration drive that will challenge those numbers, but it will never approach 70% or even 50%.
I have no idea what you are talking about in response to the GEP/GOP/GAP thing.
JFK was an mediocre president whose charisma and untimely death are more famous than anything he ever did, which is good for his legacy considering he started the Vietnam war and indirectly caused the rise of neo-conservatism.

stuff
Commie!!
I'm on the fence about neo-conservatism. On one hand, it does accurately highlight the fact that the world has become so small and connected, "no man is an island" applies to nations as well. On the other hand, republicans have fucked up the neo-conservative experiment so bad, all it looks like now is just plain neglectful and corrupt governance.
Neo-conservatism was actually started by Democrats who disagreed with the 1960's anti-war counter-culture. They joined the GOP so they could continue their interventions in other's state sovereignity.
author=Holbert link=topic=1775.msg28899#msg28899 date=1220239657Maybe, but he also slept with Marylin Monroe. On the all time greatest hit lists of "Cool things Presidents did," that ranks in at least the top ten. I mean, as long as you count "Teddy Roosevelt's entire career" as just one thing on the top ten, rather than the fifty or sixty awesome things he actually did.

And anyway, charisma goes a long way. The President's most important job is to be a figure behind whom a country can unite, and charisma is one of the best traits to have for doing that.

It was Coca-cola I OD'd on, but either way, I'm calm now.
I was counting those undecided people in my tally, which would make it around 70%. That's just the total I've heard from various news media, so of course it's going to be off quite a bit. (It's not like anyone depends on them for... I don't know... NEWS?)
...
Okay, back to the topic at hand. I've merely been saying that Obama has the momentum to make it all the way. If it weren't for damn political parties, he would be there already. Well, that and the fact the he needs to overcome barriers like race (yes, I said it), youth voters, and converting Hillary's supporters (the entire female gender, give or take).
Also, Hulk Hulgan supports Obama. It's not smart to argue with Hulk Hulgan.

As much as i would like to donate $5000 to best you Holb i just don't have the money.
"Obama 08!" 8)

I'm not asking for $5000 -- I'm asking for $5, $10, whatever.
I guess you can spend it on cheeseburgers, though.
