THE CREATOR OF FIRE EMBLEM IS MAKING A NEW GAME USING…SRPG MAKER!?!?!?

The creator of the original Fire Emblem on the Famicom, Shouzou Kata, recently announced on his blog that he's working on a new game, using SapphireSoft's SRPG Maker (the strategy-RPG equivalent of RPG Maker). With a small development team (currently about ten people) and the tools available in the SRPG Maker software, Kaga is currently looking for help with sprites and battle animations, which he mentions in his blog post.
"This might be a bit sudden, but I decided to start making a doujin game with some friends, hahaha."
"We’ll use the recently released doujin soft SRPG Studio (© SapphireSoft), and once it’s done we’ll distribute the game for free."
"Our staff – myself included – has limited time to work on this, so we have no idea of when we’re going to finish this. Should we finish, I’ll post about it in this blog. Please look forward to it if you like retro games (though it’ll be hard to get it done if we don’t get the materials ^^;)."

…Does this mean that one day we might see somebody like Hironobu Sakaguchi make a new game using something like OHRRPGCE or Adventure Game Studio? Either way, this is some pretty interesting news…assuming that he manages to finish the project, that this.

Seriously though, if Luchino just shows Enelysion or Tristian and goes "I made all of this", then that's bound to mean something.
Yeah, I like tactics RPGs, but when I took a look at SRPG, I just couldn't bring myself to use it. It just looks so bad. Which will make it interesting to see what a pro does with it XD
Yeah, I saw this over at a Fire Emblem fansite. I really hope this SRPG-Maker gets an English translation. ^^ As for contributing stuff to Kaga's fan-work, I have a little too much on my plate right now.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Hmm. I have this app that translates text strings within any running program, by sending the text in real-time to Google Translate and Bing Translate and outputting the results in a separate window, which I definitely do not use almost explicitly for pornographic dating sim games starring anime characters. I bet I could use it to make sense of SRPG Maker.

also i opened up the trial version and the facesets are nice but after playing FE:A i'm kinda sick of tactical rpgs relegating women to being ditzes with wands. give me more cordelias and cherches instead of this rtp :<
edit: also i don't speak japanese so none of it made sense. i had no idea how to change the character graphic, even :<
