Hello! We need a talented character artist for an upcoming game that incorporates elements of sci fi and high fantasy. The primary purpose of this art is for 3D modeling reference.
About the project
We are creating a turn-based strategy game, similar to traditional JRPGs. However, it’s designed for balanced PVP (online) play. Our goal is to launch a mobile/tablet game for core players who desire more depth than the typical casual game.
About the Task
This is the process and deliverables that we are looking for:
1. Explore many ideas (based on the character requirement) and produce very rough/quick sketches.
2. After we choose a direction, create rough turn around sketches (front, back, three quarters, side). This will be shown to our 3D modeler so potential technical issues can be identified.
3. Create high-quality painted digital illustrations for at least two angles. Some elements (i.e. clothing, armor, accessories) may need to be illustrated aside if they can’t be seen well from the selected angles.
4. Explore ideas for cosmetic variations (or themes) and present rough illustrations.
5. Create high-quality painted digital illustrations for the variation. Most likely, you would draw over the previous illustration (i.e. toggle off the layers and add new ones for armor, hat, etc.).
The contract will be for one character. However, if we are happy with the quality of the art and the working relationship, we will gladly create another contract for several more.
Check out this link for samples of the deliverables.
About Us
We consider ourselves more of a “collective” than an indie team. Each person contributing their craftsmanship to make a great game. We currently consist of a game designer, a pair of game programmers, one backend programmer, one artist, and a music composer. Most of us have several years experience in our respective fields. Our lead programmer has shipped many successful games at a former studio. You'll notice that we already have an artist on the project, but there's lots of work to do!
How to Apply
Please send the following via private message or email to info(at)afterisk.com.
Thanks!
