I was going wtf over VXAce's price of 36€ (normal price 180€!!!). But then I looked more closely and it seems only a four-pack is on discount. So VXA has not gone up massively in price suddenly :)

That's weird, I'm seeing the regular Ace engine on sale as well as the four-pack.

My budget's pretty much emptied out for the time being, but I wonder if any of the other programs on there, like Manga Maker, are any good. I only recognize two of the games on sale.

At $2, you'd have to be nuts to ignore Crimson Clover. Even if you don't like bullet hells, CC just might be able to change your mind.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds might be worth $3. The sprites are nice, and the fighting engine is great (after unlocking all your moves and shit), but the dumb leveling system completely breaks multiplayer. If you're not playing single player, you have to exit the game to apply your level bonuses / move unlocks after each level. The character's levels are also persistent across all modes, which makes the VS mode pretty lulzy if you haven't leveled the characters equally. You can at least undo the stat-ups if you want to replay the early levels without one-shotting everything. I also remember the stage design being pretty bland and repetitive, even by old beat 'em up standards.

But hey, you DO get to air-throw a dragon.

Zonderland pack is by a UK group called Intelligentsia.


They also did the music and SFX for one of the Fightermakers. I've seen them credited for RMXP's soundtrack, but I have a hard time believing that (it was probably the SFX instead). I'm not sure if the Zonderland thing is even new, as they had done a music pack related to RM2k (or something like that) a long-ass time ago. I'm pretty sure that's what that is.
