Skip to the 4 minute mark in this video. I have a few questions on how to do this:

1. I manage to make the player walk across the map by using a repeated move command, however it walks over any events along the path (Which I'm using to get lightning to flash etc).

2. How do you get text on trees like that?!

Without even looking at the video, I can answer your first question. Don't let it. You have complete control over move events. Count the spaces on your map, and make sure he either turns or stops at this event. Your formula is move event - proceed with movement (and if you want him to stop instead of turn) - halt movement.

The answer to two...I'll be honest, I can't see the video. I'm getting an error. I can't get past one minute. That's my problem, not yours. I'm assuming that there's the image of a tree with text on it. Well, you basically have to create it. It's a graphic.
Thanks for the help (again). It's like VX Ace then; will count the tiles. When hthe player halts on this tile, how long will this pause usually be? Trying to go for a smooth movement similiar to this video I found as a proof of concept. I'd imagine when he stops the events I've placed to flash lightning as well as make the player run fast.

In response to question 2, here is a screengrab:



The text "Edge of Shadow" appears on the trees after a lightning flash; I would like to figure out how to do this myself. Will it involve having to frankenstein my chipsets to have these appear in the editor?

Probably a "Show Picture" command.

This would mean I don't need to put it inside the chipset I'm assuming. That's good news! Does RPG Maker 2003 have any restrictions on image files? Will try and find a good font maker to create images later.

On that note, does anyone recongise that font? I'm assuming the creator of this RPG used a certain text generator that has these sort of professional/pixel fonts that fit well with RPG Maker over something like CoolText.

Question about this, if I have the player moving slowly, will each "Move left" register as one for every tile still?

EDIT: Alright I've gotten him to stop over the next event (Where it tells him to wait 1 second). I'm considering scrapping it and just putting that at the end of the first even, and having an autorun process timed to flash lightning (After I time how long it takes him to walk). Would this work?
Would the hero continue to walk or stop every time a flash occurs?

EDIT: Steam version doesnt have this under that name; would "Wait for all movement" be the same thing?
