If so, let me know or give me a reference. So I'm making a world map for my game, and for that I need a high resolution, graphical map. I already have the basic shape and layout of the continents and locations, and right now it's just a black and white 'outline' of landmasses. I'm looking for someone with the artistic talent to turn that into a proper map. I've always been really interested in these styles of maps (Dragon Age and Tactics Ogre, respectively)

My map template. The landmasses are white, and the water is black. I already have the details of the basic landscape in mind. So, you wouldn't have to start from scratch.

Does anyone know of anyone with this kind of talent to work with me in making my map in a similar visual style? And of course, I'm not expecting this to be done without any sort of compensation or commission, of course!
That is pretty cool. The only thing is that seems to only generate maps randomly, but I already have the world shape and landmasses plotted out.

Well, I recently made a political map and I have an interest in cartography. I've never done a textured map, but I've worked a lot with phototextures so I think I could swing it.

Thing is, I can't do it until a week or two from now at best, because I'm on vacation and away from my Cintiq/Work Computer.

If you can wait I'd love to taje a shot at it and to have the chance to be involved in Chronology.

Some quick reference pulled from my locker (without textures, fuck). Can't dig around because I'm on my phone atm:

Found one with texturing:

@Feld: All 3 of those references are quite different in style...

The Dragon Age one looks messy from afar but is extremely detailed. It probably is the hardest one to replicate.

The Tactics Ogre one has simple outlines and uses "tiles": the trees and several mountains for instance are identical. The outlines and colors are very simple. Everything that is around the map is expert level stuff though.

The FF12 one has lots of complicated smudge all over it but the outlines and colors seem easy enough to replicate.

I could possibly try my hand at it. I don't have any sample of similar work to show though.
Tell us more about what style you'd prefer to go for, how much details do you want, etc.

EDIT: Oh and there's Celianna's World Map Maker you might want to look into.
Yes, they're broad examples and a design outline, but not what I'd expect exactly.

I'm not saying "ANY MAP OF MINE MUST BE LIKE ONE OF THESE THREE AAA BLOCKBUSTER PROFESSIONALLY DESIGNED GAMES" or anything. The examples above are just a couple of examples of maps that I think are cool and work well in a menu based world map. I've seen some pretty slick designs by amateur folks like I'm asking now, so I know cool stuff can be done, but I'm not expecting a to the letter luster.

I can't express enough, I already have the basic design for the landmasses down. I'm not expecting it to be totally from scratch. In fact, I'm going to update the first post with that information.

This is fun. It uses gamefication well too. And Campaign Carto looks sweet too. I love old hand made maps (Mights and Magics, Ultimas). I made several myself.

Something like Campaign Cartographer 3?

I think that's...okay for my needs. I'm hesitant on it. Also, it would only work if I could import my existing landmasses onto it. I'll keep it in mind, though.
Your black and white map doesn't really say much except what's land and what's sea. You're going to have to be more specific than that if you want help. I could probably make a map in those styles but not without more information.
Oh, of course. Cities, landmarks, regions, mountains, geography, etc etc is part of the request as well, but those are details that I'm going to save when I actually get a taker for this, because I'm going to work with them so they know what goes where.
afaik you can't shove a rasterized image into it so you'll have to redraw your map with it, one of those tutorial videos I linked should show off how that works but I'm too lazy to dig it up.
