Hey RPG Makers, it's Paul Hack (@indiegamehunt) from Game Jolt and I want to let you all know about another game jam we're having!
You will have 72 hours to make a game with a scoreboard using the Game Jolt API. The theme will be announced when the jam starts.
PewDiePie, Markiplier, and Jacksepticeye will be playing the top 5 games as voted on by the community.
Gamers will compete for high scores in the winning games, with the best scores displayed on the jam homepage.
The jam runs from July 17-20 (12:00AM Eastern Time).
Details are on the Indies vs Gamers jam homepage: http://jams.gamejolt.io/indiesvsgamers
You may want to test out API integration now so you don't have to fumble around during the jam: https://help.gamejolt.com/dev-game-api
By involving gamers as well as developers, we hope to get indie gaming more well known by the gaming community at large.
I hope to see a lot of you there =]
That would have been very exciting had it not been programmed to happen during the IGMC.
I dunno guys. This is only 4 days long. I'm sure some designers could probably do both. Plus a game being played by PewDiePie is a hell of a boost for any aspiring designer. I mean, Pom Gets WiFi is still the top trending game at this site after all. And that's after nearly two years.
Also there are quite a few people who have stated they can't do the IGMC this year due to time constraints, a smaller Game Jam may be right up their alley.
Who is Pewdiepie?
Kidding aside this looks exactly like my kind of event. It doesn't help that it is short-period, I won't be online at the time.

Yeah, IGMC is great for us, but this jam offers way higher potential exposure and a much more accessible dev window. If I weren't working on a major project, I'd probably do both things, honestly.

Pewdiepie is the only name I recognize, and only because of Pom Gets Wifi
I don't really watch any of those youtubers with the exception to Markipliers' Five Nights at Freddy's videos. As they are the most entertaining, well, his horror indie game titles are usually the most interesting to watch.
Ok, so... How does this work exactly? What game engines are applicable and how do you apply this "Game API" thing to them?

I'd maybe go with any on this list: https://help.gamejolt.com/dev-game-api
Yeah, there is no way I'll have time for anything competitive in this. Not with the complete lack of artistic skill, editing, finding royalty free music, having to learn how to use and implement Game Jolt's stuff, AND being a full day behind. 72 Hours? Where was the notice? Jeez.
I guess I should really pay more attention to the forums.

Hard to see how having that obnoxious twat play your game is anything of a reward.
Pass.
Pass.
