Let's Play Some Games.

What is this? This is RMN Multiplayer, where we get together and game. What kind of games?

-Any online console game. Halo, Super Smash, Call of Duty, etc...
-Any online PC game. World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, MMORPGs
-Anything Steam has to offer. Team Fortress 2/Counter Strike are the obvious ones that comes to mind.
-Arcade games on programs such as MAME and Neo Final Burn. Do you play fighting games? Here's what you want.

Here's Some Resources and Links You May Want.

STEAM

http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php

What is Steam? Steam is an application that's used to distribute digital media. Neophyte put it best in a previous topic, so I'm going to quote him.

It's a little more than just digital distribution. If you wanted, all of your games could be tied into Steam, as it does allow games that aren't on their list to be added manually through shortcuts. The more popular games have groups you can join, making multiplayer games much better since you're not just playing with random people all the time. You can even schedule those group events, and check a players stats for multiplayer games on it. They also take things from their community and add it into Steam(such as user made mods).

Basically, you can either be a "lite" user of Steam, or more of a "regular" user of Steam. It will get the job done for what you want(buy games, play them), but you can get even deeper into it if you choose to do so.

Basically, if you have any intentions of ever playing most games online and hopping in online games with us, you should get Steam. Best part; it's free!

Also, here's the RMN Steam Group. Feel free to join.

BTW if you're gangster and you're down with Steam and RMN put this in your sig.

MAME and NEO FINAL BURN ALPHA

What is MAME and Neo Final Burn?

From Wikipedia

MAME is an emulator application designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software, with the intent of preserving gaming history and preventing vintage games from being lost or forgotten. The aim of MAME is to be a reference to the inner workings of the emulated arcade machines; the ability to actually play the games is considered as "a nice side effect" . The name is an acronym for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.

Basically, with the proper ROMS (find 'em yourself) you can play most of the arcade games that's ever been released, and yes, there's online capability as well. So yeah, you can play 2 Player Co-Op mode of the Simpsons with your friend in Hong Kong if you're so inclined.

However, while you can use it for whatever you want, I personally plan to have a lot of fighting gaming come out of it. If there's enough interest, I'll host various Street Fighter, King of Fighter, or whatever you want tournaments. Some may even have prizes, so WATCH OUT.

Neo Final Burn is the exact same thing as MAME but better and more and more people are flocking to it so you might want to get this over MAME.

If you want your name added to the list, please don't post it, PM me. No need for the topic to get messy.

This topic will get a lot bigger and more streamlined if people show interest in this. So if you want it, let's start talking. Feel free to ask me any questions.
Do you mind transfering over the data from the Gamertag topic into here?
Not at all. Give me a sec.

EDIT: Done.
By the way, if I actually get a substantial user base for our Steam group, I'm actually considering purchasing a server for RMN to use. Given that possibly, the turnout would be huge, and RMN would undoubtedly gain great exposure from it as a result.

But I can only do this with more people on my side here, and so far the RMN Steam group only has 6 people, so we need a lot more than that.
HEY FRUITS

If you were unsure about getting Steam (which is free) because you didn't want to buy any games just to try it out, Steam is offering Portal: The First Slice, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch for people who have a piece of nVidia hardware somewhere on their comp.

I created a Steam account today to purchase all the X-Com games.
Yeah, Steam is so good at promotions and deals they literally give games away at times.
Ok, you added my Xbox Live Gamertag, but why not my steam account?
Might I suggest http://2dfighter.com/ for fighting games? It's much better than kaillera for online.

Are they a direct port of the original, WIP, or do they have any added functionality? I was thinking it might be cool to bash Aliens and intercept the Globe with a friend, hehe.

Would it be cool to make a seperate topic for XBox Live GamerTags?
This is what this topic is for.
Add TooManyToasters to the gamertag list. I'll be playing dickloads of Left 4 Dead after Christmas. I might play some TF2 in like a week when AI get my copy of the Orange Box back, but 360 TF2 is a bit bleh.
Anybody here have Stronghold Crusader? If you do, I'm up for hosting a multiplayer game sometime.

Or for that matter, I'd be willing to have a multiplayer game with just about any other RTS.

I'm bringing this world back for you and for me.

BYOND

Definatley a great engine filled with alot of good Multiplayer games. Here are a few I play.

DMU-Duel Monsters Unlimited- http://www.byond.com/games/UnknownDuelist/DuelMonstersUnlimited

Good visual for Yu-Gi-Oh!, every entire card in the game even anime-only cards along with cards that are apart of booster packs not even released yet.

Mitadake High- http://www.byond.com/games/DevourerOfSouls/MitadakeHigh

Unlike DMU, Mitadake consist of rounds and games. basically there are an amount of players, a murder has been committed and one of the player's chosen as the killer at the start. But you don't who's the killer so it's up to you to find who's doing what, you can either win by waiting it out or escaping as a non-killer or if your the killer killing everyone else. It takes on a great mob mentality as you RP the story out searching for the killer, and players can be killed and are out of suspicion of being the killer. There's "Death Note" Mode which make son person Kira and the other one who posses the Shingami eyes the fact being these two meet up and kill everyone else. Theres also Nanya Mode which is basically everyone killing each other.

Resident Evil- http://www.byond.com/games/Ruben7/ResidentEvil

You choose a gun, basically three styles of game. Death Match, Survival, Last Man Standing and VIP. Modes that we should all know, zombies are in the range of 1000s and it requires you to kill alot of them, working together with your teammates. Features some vehicles and when you die if it's "Last Man Standing" you become a zombie. I actually died and then infected the last player alive who died slowly.
