Rap and hip hop is not a genre I'm normally into but I'm trying to give it a chance since I'm a huge music buff. So far my favorite rap group by far is The Beastie Boys in fact that's about the only ones I actively listen to. Pauls Boutique and Check your head are both excellent albums.

I tried getting into Wu Tang Clan, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar but I don't like em at all.

Nicki Minaj is kind of all over the map in terms of quality; she tends to be at her best when she's going fast and furious, and at her worst in most of the pop ballads.

Missy Elliot and Salt n Pepa are both extremely solid, and I can highly recommend. Busta Rhymes is also pretty fantastic.

What is it that you like about the Beastie Boys? That can probably help you get good recs. (For example, I like the people I recommend for their flow, which is generally not the forte of the Beastie Boys.)
I grew up on the West coast and am over 30, so let me tell you, G-funk is where it's at! Snoop is pretty much the Elvis AND Bob Dylan of the genre, Nate Dogg is so excellent I named my dog after him, and Tupac, despite his thug posturing, is better than both of them. Chronic and Chronic 2000 are both pretty revolutionary, and good bookends for the era. 'It was a Good Day' by Ice Cube is a great song whenever you need a pickup. Those are my easy picks, if I could get my girlfriend on the site I could name a lot more. Also, you could just pick out songs off of any of the GTA soundtracks, since they seem to make pretty informed choices with their hip-hop.

Snoop and Nate are both solid choices. Not really my style, but quite talented.
Nas is always a solid choice.

Biggie is the only rap I can really enjoy (and even then only a few songs, really). I'm just not into it- my tastes are on a totally opposite end of the spectrum with Krautrock, Electronica, Prog Rock, Ambient, etc. Therefore I find myself getting annoyed by rap's focus on lyricism, since I generally prefer songs that have no lyrics at all and tell their stories through long, winding melodies instead.

I like Gym Class Heroes a lot! Diddy has some good songs too. I need to find more rap, though.
Hey Pizza, I'm pretty much where you're at with my choice of music, I kind of married in to rap so to speak. Ever hear of Aesop Rock? He's about as Prog as you can get while still being rap (still lotsa lyrics though, but they're fairly King Krimson Pink Floydy).

I listen to types of music too especially krautrock so maybe you'd like TheBeastie Boys?

I like the obnoxious in your face and campy vocals. I like the songwriting and energy. I like how artsy fartsy they got and how they made all their songs different and interesting.

Definitely recommend Nicki Minaj, then, especially in her "Roman" persona.

Here's a few tracks I'd recommend:
Roman's Revenge (with Eminem)

Stupid Hoe

I am Your Leader

the Boys

There's also Anaconda, which I assume you've probably heard before.

I've heard andaconda and I hate it tbh. I know who Nicki Minaj is and trust me she's not my thing.
I prefer the music from the late 80's. Back when the beats still had a lot of jazz and funk rhythms in them. I think mainstream rap is too self-referential now.

The underground is still really creative, though.
self-referential music annoys me to no end

I agree about it being better in the 80s or at least 80s artists because Beastie Boys continued to make great albums through out the 90s.
Me no rap fan.
Starbomb has a few okay ones. Not typical rap, but it has videogames!

Clearly I'm not a rap fan either just trying to give it a chance.
I heartily dislike the rap genre.
