RESIDENT EVIL 2 REMAKE CONFIRMED!

CloseSo about a day ago they annouced that Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake! Not a remastering or an Hd up scaling a remake from the ground up! What is everyone's opinion on this? Are you excited or not? Resident Evil 2 has to be one of my favorites in the series and I'm about 50/50 on this myself, I hope they keep it back to its roots and be a survival horror game. But given capcom can make some dumb choices (Aka releasing street fighter 4 countless times, and include dlc for each time) I don't know what to expect.

the REmake of the first game on Gamecube was absolutely wonderful, as I remember it. while Capcom's kind of changed since then, I hope this lives up to the same standard of quality.
I'm kind of curious if they'll do the same thing they did for RE1 -- that is, sticking with pre-rendered backgrounds to give themselves more room to make the models gorgeous. it really worked on the Gamecube, and there have been a least a few games since then that took the same tactic. I'm fairly sure pre-rendered backgrounds made with current tech would work just as well, and I'm eager to see.

I personally hope they go for something similar to the gamecube remake of the first resident evil. Resident evil 2 was absolutely wonderful in terms of story and atmosphere.

Well yeah, that's because the direction of Resident Evil went full retard and the story jumped the shark. If they stay true to the old gameplay and setting, I think it would be great. Just modernize the camera and controls. A lot.

If the remake is like the RE1 remake, it will be orgasmic.
This. The REmake is not only my favorite game in the entire series, but I still refer to it as one of the best remakes of any game ever. I'm really interested in seeing how Capcom handles RE2.
Spoiler: it's gonna be an on-rails shooter.
