LEGAL RELATED QUESTION

Hello. I've been unsure since I went to the official rpg maker site's forum after 2003 has been officially released. There the rules stated no material made with the unofficial translations of the makers or that which contains a rip of some sort could be posted.

Here, I see the old games - many of which probably fall into the above categories - remain, but are listed under RPG tsukuru 2000 or RTP tsukuru 2003.

Which brings me to the following question:
First of all, I legally own rpg maker 2003. I wish to make a freeware game with it in which I want to use graphical material mainly from REFMAP tile sets, but some of them also have material mixed in from Rudra no Hiho and Seiken Densetsu 3 SNES games, in other words: contain rips. Is there such a restriction on this website / has such a restriction been added since the official English release of RPG Maker 2003?
You can upload a game made in any Maker (but is better if you use the official versions) and with any kind of rips here in RMN, the only thing that isn't allowed is to use resources made by other users without permission

Some sites don't allow rips or unofficial versions, like RPGmaker web, it really depends on the site you are posting the game
To be more specific, you can't use materials materials made by indie developers without proper permission. Rips from commercial non-indie games are allowed on the site. It's basically honor among thieves kind of mentality since the origins of the RPG Maker community was basically mass rips from SNES RPGs.

We also allow games made in either the unofficial or official release of RM2k and RM2k3. A commercial game made in the unofficial release might raise some eyebrows though.

Hmm. Are there still rippers around?
Whoops, I worded that poorly. I meant to say that since the beginning of people using the PC RPG Makers most games were made up of rips from SNES RPGs. People would use FF6 MIDIs from vgmusic.com all to a mishmash of FF6, Breath of Fire, Romancing SaGa, and Treasures of the Rudra graphics.

I don't know of anybody ripping graphics from games and putting them in easy RPG Maker formats anymore but there's still people who do general ripping like the Spriter's Resource.

Nah, I got what you meant. I was just curious as to whether some people still rip tile sets and the ilke. Those rips kinda disappeared. I remember finding a site which had a collection of rudra, sd3, chrono trigger, tales of phantasia and star ocean tile sets.
