If you've been into gaming news recently, you may have heard about how Konami has been doing weird stuff lately, seemingly abandoning a lot of their video game franchises, even ditching Hideo Kojima from the Metal Gear Solid series (with The Phantom Pain making a big splash from his work, regardless) and possibly shitting the bed in regards to video game development. Suikoden fans can definitely feel what I'm saying.
Castlevania, and Koji Igarashi of course, has also gotten the shaft. But!!! Igarasi has turned to Kickstarter to fund his new game, Bloodstained, a spiritual successor to the series, and it's already been fully funded (hitting all of its goalposts with over 5 million dollars in funds) and is actively in production.
I think this looks really good, and I think it's pretty cool to see classic concepts living and thriving on even past the formats and companies that they sprung from. This game has some pretty solid direction and as a Castlevania fan, I'm curious to see where this goes, similar to how the concept of Mighty No. 9 came to be from the ashes of Mega Man.
Yeah, I'm super excited for this! Anything to get more classic Castlevania action! Konami really hasn't been treating its game properties very well, so I'm all for Kickstarter-funded spiritual sequels, as long as they're done well, and the Kickstarter doesn't fall through.
Crossing my fingers for this project; it looks like it'll be super awesome ^_^

That's putting it way more mildly than it should be.
Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to this. Here's hoping we'll see some actual gameplay footage soon.
A little late MOG... but it's still looking great. Just got my "which platform do you want your digital download on" backer email today! (I chose GOG over Steam because I don't really want Steam getting any more ad money from me than necessary.)
The stained glass motif is awesome, the music seems great, and i love the industrial revolution theme. I recommend looking up the Ask IGA videos on youtube, they're all about his gam mak philosophy and design decisions.

I know, I know! When I first heard of this while it was still being funded, I was wondering how far it would go, so I hesitated making a topic about it. Glad to see it's still going quite strong!
Wow, really? Amazing! To me, this whole series was buried in the grave of Lords of Shadow. I'm glad to see a reanimation, even if it is to be brought back to this world in another form.
The best of luck to Mr. Igarashi and his team!
Thank you for posting this~

It's cool to see some of the more well remembered AAA devs going to crowdfunding to make "dream games" for their fans. Personally I'm not big on Castlevania though- I'm more excited for Yooka-Laylee myself, but hey. It's cool!
I didn't back it but i'll definitely buy it once it comes out. On steam of course.
