NEED HELP WITH GIMP. OUTLINES AROUND MONSTER GRAPHICS.

I've been making a battler graphic for Vx Ace but when I import it in it has an outline around the outside. Even though I set the background colour to transparent, there is always one there and I expect it is from slightly blended colours.
Is there a way so I can draw solid colour with no blending happening? I've been trying to edit it with the pixel brush, but with no luck so far.

Show us the picture in question. It's hard to tell what's wrong without that. The problem might be that you're using the wrong tool. The pencil, not the brush, should do solid colors, or maybe you're saving as jpeg, which changes colors and pixelises the image. Always save as png.
Edit: Also this should go in the "Help Me!" forum, I think.

You can use the rectangle tool and zoom in to cut out portions of the graphic you don't want. While I use Gimp a lot, it does have it's draw backs. It'g really good at doing certain things and really bad at doing other things (either that or I don't know all of Gimp's functions.)
Also you need to show us the picture your using and a screen shot of what it looks like in the game. (That's 2 shots, will give good idea of what's happening.)
I suspect it's because of compression artifacts. That's usually why I see such things.
I would use the magic wand tool to select very similar colors, and select the outline (you can change how strong it is), and then delete it.
Saving as PNG or GIF is best. I usually use PNG, but for very small images (say, 16x16 or 32x32) GIF is smaller in filesize.

Thanks for the ideas.
I'll give them a shot later. If that doesn't give me any success, I'll post up some images.
I was tossing up whether this would be better under the "Help me" forum or this one.

Here are the images. The white line is still there but not as obvious. I've set compression down to 0. It's in PNG format.

Ah. So the background is not actually transparent to begin with?
Try using the magic wand tool to select the background, and turn up the strength. This will select more colors that are relatively farther in color from the one of the actual pixel you picked (so things that are related to the background color, but blended with the actual character's colors, too). I would try turning it up and see if I can select basically all the background, including that extra outline, before it starts eating into the actual image I want to preserve.
If you can at least get close that way, you could then select or deselect any remaining bits with the lasso tool.
It looks like the actual issue is simply that the image was created without real transparency and without a hard border defined, so the colors were blended with the white background. Which is unfortunate.

Select by color / white /invert selection / cut / paste as new image.
Edit: Just tried that / doesn't work.
Edit: Try the blur tool at the edge of the monster.
Edit:
Or... Use the rectangle tool to select a portion of the monster and copy it, then paste it as a new pattern. Then use the pattern to carefully go around the edge.
