If you get the DS i advice you to buy an R4 which lets you download DS roms onto it and play them. It will save you a shitload of money plus the R4 is pretty cheap to buy. Bought mine for about $40.
Why bother with that? Just shoplift the games and you don't even have to pay for the R4!
Clicky for a well composed list of good DS games in image form.

I find the PSP is only useful for emulating stuff and really nothing much else.

But without a card you can't play adventure games with the ScummVM DS emulator.

I got no problem using the cards for homebrew. It's the blatant piracy of new titles that I've got a problem with. Especially when I see what it's doing to the anime industry, I get concerned for niche titles in the video game industry....niche titles being the bread and butter of the DS library.

Hey how about we fucking support the people who make these games. If you do not buy the game, you have no right to play it.

Holy shit game piracy pisses me off. For that matter, get a DS. It has the better library.
What about for older titles? I don't really like pirating for brand new games, but if Konami expects me to put money in their pocket so I can play Rocket Knight Adventures or something, they can just go suck a dick.
Well games aren't that expensive. If you've got a you know....JOB, then I don't see the need for so much pirating. And you can find games dirt cheap used if you search online. A game like GTA IV costs $25 if you know where to look.
If anyone continues to actively advertise piracy(I'm looking at you DD), I'll edit their post into something embarrassing/delete it. So don't.

Well yeah, like I said, older titles are A-OK in my book, not that it particularly matters.

Yeah at the very least don't tout on pirating shit that just came out. That's just embarrassing.

I have no sense of moral code, so I respect your argument.

It was an especially long debate tournament, okay? I was bored.

So naturally, it turned into a game of capture the flag, only with a DS (and without my consent).

Who the crap does that? Even a soda bottle full of rocks would've worked, and you know... not expensive.
Like I said, I didn't agree to them using my DS, they just took it, and when I got it back, I would hide it a jacket, or somewhere, something (uniform didn't have big enough pockets) and they'd just find it and take it again. >.>
I've done a lot of piracy on my ds card. Usually I do it to test out games I'd never otherwise play. Games like Barbie's Pony Adventure. It's great fun to see just how shite these games are without actually having to shell out money for them.

Of course occasionally I pirate good games too. Only to find out that they suck and can't beat my Elite Beat Agents.

Also, I'll bet the reason brandonabley agreed to give the DS another chance was Dragon Quest IV and IX.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker was the game that got me to dig out my old DS actually. But your guess is pretty close.

I am okay with downloading games that are impossible to find. That's shit like Crystalis and other classic games. And buy the damn thing when it's available on a platform such as Virtual Console.

Downloading a FF4 DS US ROM? Not acceptable.

Christ almighty. Grow a pair. What they're doing is destruction of property. People in charge (teachers/principals) are good about preventing those things.
Or you could just intimidate them.

I have a DS. At first I wish I'd bought a PSP, but then I played Worms: Open Warfare 2 (and Pokemon Diamond I guess) and everything changed.

I'm not sure how the PSP is; from what I can tell it's got a terrible battery life but quite a good collection of games (depending on what type of gamer you are though).
I have no idea what a US ROM is. I'm a bit like a Polar Bear in a desert with that sort of stuff.

I did have a PSP but I sold it a few weeks later. There's something about PSP's I just don't like. It doesn't appeal to me at all. I suppose i've always been more of a Nintendo fan, I guess thats what it comes down too in the end. Perhaps it's because all my gamer friends have a DS and not a PSP. So pick a DS, i've never regretted it once.

Worms came out on PSP. It had infrastructure mode too. It's really fun to play online.

The PSP has good battery life too. On the lowest brightness, it's about 8 hours. On the highest it lasts about 5 or 6. As for the games, they're kinda split. There isn't as much shovelware compared to the DS, but games come out at a snails pace. You're lucky to get 5 good games a year. What's out there now is good though, no matter what genre you're into.
I'd make a list of the games I'd like to play on both systems, and then pick the one with the most games.

I'd probably do some (lame) ranking scheme, too, where I'd rate how much I want to play the game, and then add up the scores and see who comes out on top.
