2015 "OFFICIAL" MISAO PREDICTIONS/DISCUSSION THREAD
Posts
I'm too lazy to edit my original post's formatting, so I'm just gonna say where changes were made to my original list, here:
Sadly I still haven't played Luxaren Allure yet but I hope to before the end of year, and that I'll be able to nominate it for what I think it deserves.
Most Puzzling Game: divergence => Kiddos Puzzcade 1.1.
Best Storytelling and Direction: April Was a Fool => Prayer of the Faithless.
Best Atmosphere: Peeking at Stars => Prayer of the Faithless.
Most Promising Demo: The Great Empty or Qui Domi => Prayer of the Faithless.
Most Adventurous Game: Sellsword => Prayer of the Faithless.

I would like to say that thanks to Luxaren Allure, there's new hope for Misaos :)
Though I haven't yet decided on which category to nominate it for (I'll decide once I finish the game...)

I've played zero games this year ( apart from replaying Linus and a bit of RoI ), so it would seem foolish of me to nominate, let alone vote. Besides, the winners are in plain sight already...

Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

First thought: Aw, thanks so much for nominating PotF! Second thought: Wait, demos can get Misaos other than Most Promising Demo?
Maybe I missed something, but from my COMPLETELY SKEWED AND BIASED point of view, Luxaren Allure is the closest to sweeping Misaos, and even then, it's got lots of competition from other games. I'm not seeing anything else that would stand out as a clear winner aside from it, at least compared to last year. Can you elaborate more?
EDIT: It's a shame, but there are some games that should be nominated but can't due to their method of updating. I would have put Catharsis under a couple of categories, like Level Design, User Interface, Sound and Music, and/or Atmosphere. Konae's Investigations would have gone under Lawsuit Waiting to Happen.
Also, I'm creating a new category called "Most WTF game" and putting Virtual Grappi under that. That's my headcannon.

There are a lot of deserving winners this year. I don't know why people think Luxaren Allure has got it in the bin... April Was a Fool and Blank Dream in particular are extremely stiff competition. Not that Luxaren Allure mightn't win it, but it isn't exactly a done deal. Anything can happen.
I too haven't played any games sadly (been too busy making my own). I'm a little sad that the game will be finished so late (middle of December), but at the same time I'm not.
What matters most to me is that people play and enjoy the game. Still, I think the game would've been able to claim some potential spots, especially for Story and Character Development.

If I could vote for my own games, Myriad Cypher would be the Lawsuit Waiting to Happen. Probably!
Take your made-up categories to the Wiaso thread!

Yeah, exactly. There are a ton of deserving games this year. ^_^

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

I'd like to think Grappi works well for "Most Puzzling" in a certain sense.
Anyway, this thread is less about talking about our own games and more about pointing out the merits of others, keep that in mind.
I haven't played much of anything except The Amber Throne, which is by default my favorite RM game of the year.
If you need recommendations for games just look at nom's here, blue. April Was a Fool in particular is both short (couple to few hours depending on read speed) and incredibly rewarding. Super Pantito can be enjoyed in half an hour, as a coffee break arcade game.
There needs to be Girl, her brother and his lamp in there.
It's short and I recommend you give it a play. Great interface, world and art design.
And I really need to play April Was a Fool. ME LOVE VISUAL NOVELS. Can't believe I didn't get to it yet
Edit: Okay, three routes in "April Was a Fool" .. all .. fairly predictable drama. So much drama.
It's decent stuff. no doubt. Definitely not mine.

I'm waiting for a "terrible everything, but cute graphics" title to be picked up by a popular YouTuber over the next couple of months. I predict that said title will sweep everything because sheeple are stupid.
And no, I'm not joking.
I submit that the event you predicted will happen (or has already happened), but in the end nobody here will/has hopped on the bandwagon, and that the only benefit of the YouTuber's endorsement is the game suddenly being greenlit on Steam, where it releases to very mixed reviews and eventually goes on sale for a much more reasonable price than it was asking at launch.
On topic, sadly I had a busy time of it lately (and have a backlog going back 3 years at this point...), so I don't have much to weigh in on, but I'm betting April was a Fool and Brave Hero Yuusha pick up a lot of awards for their likable quirkiness.
Noob question : I'm not sure if I can put my project on this contest.
Is there a page where all the rules are written?
Thank you. :)

@Boulon: This page might be what you're looking for. Though, to be fair, you cannot nominate your own games.
