From a cultural and psychological perspective this is fascinating.
China is a country consisting of 1 billion people. There is no way they don't realize what's going on.
Isn't this sort of thing what the UN was founded to prevent? Couldn't you make a case that this is a human rights violation?
By 2020, everyone in China will be enrolled in a vast national database that compiles fiscal and government information, including minor traffic violations, and distils it into a single number ranking each citizen.
Users are encouraged to flaunt their good credit scores to friends, and even potential mates. China's biggest matchmaking service, Baihe, has teamed up with Sesame to promote clients with good credit scores, giving them prominent spots on the company's website.
More and more of Baihe's 90 million clients are displaying their credit scores in their dating profiles, doing away with the idea that a credit score is a private matter.
However, Sesame Credit will not divulge exactly how it calculates its credit scores, explaining that it is a "complex algorithm".
The company refused to give an interview to the BBC, citing concerns that the government would refuse to grant a permanent licence to issue credit scores if it engaged with the foreign media.

Extra Credit had a really good video on this and how it relates to games actually:
This is how bleak dystopian futures are created
"Someone who plays video games for 10 hours a day, for example, would be considered an idle person, and someone who frequently buys diapers would be considered as probably a parent, who on balance is more likely to have a sense of responsibility,"
What if dude #1 is Pewdiepie and dude #2 is just a creep with a diaper fetish? -_-
Don't worry - within weeks someone will figure out a way to game the system, rendering the entire score meaningless. Human sleeziness will win out in the end.
"You want access to District 7? Forget it, you low tier! We don't want your scummy credit score in here. You'll startle the children!!!"
"B-b-but please! I just paid off my debt from an accident. I work two jobs to pay for it... I just want Final Fantasy XXVII-2 for my niece! Please!"
"Shoo, or we'll have you executed for being a bother."

Yeah, I saw the EC episode about it and did some sharing/reading yesterday.
It's absolutely disgusting and I really wish that there was something I could do to help make this not be a thing. I mean, it being run by Alibaba and Tencent alone should be huge warning flags for, like, the world at large.

Theres probably some form of calculating wages or bypassing that via entertainer status, especially if they're pushing the state agenda via propaganda.
as for diaper dude, they probably calculate whether or not they have a kid about that age before determining loss or gain of points.

Tencent and Alibaba are involved, so there's probably going to be a good about of research and bug testing into the system, not to mention updates to their system.
Humans being filthy swine probably shouldn't surprise anyone anymore. Eventually, this fucking trash that we call society will collapse in on itself. Well, hopefully, anyways.
Until then I'll be over here, waiting for the day that the Earth finally dies and the filth of Human existence is torched and extinguished from the universe forever.
...Merry Christmas everyone!

ranking people and assessing their value by some rather arbitrary online score making a mockery of social interaction. Making a score with which to gamify worthiness and value of contributions is a horrible idea and shouldn't be done anywhere.

Pretty much a testament to how exploitable and one-sided this sick joke of a system is.
As if the signs that humanity is moving to being dominated by a single corporatized government weren't prevalent enough.
