Ok, I'll put my action now:

After a short while, an idea pops into my mind:
"Hey! Why don't we talk to him? Maybe we can convince him to teach us how to use magic ourselves!"

I get up and approach the kid, and when I reach him I say, "Hello, what's your name? My name is Jowee."

Jowee stands up and strides over to the kid. "Hello, what's your name? My name is Jowee"
The kid stares at Jowee for a moment, its head cocked to the side. It just stares at him, another child nearby breaks the wheel of the car she was playing with and begins to cry. The kid reaches into its pocket and pulls out another car that looks the same. It rolls the car across the floor and right to the crying child. The child stops crying and picks up the car, examining it.
The kid refocuses its eyes on Jowee. It leans in close to Jowees face and whispers "Call me Willa." owee catches the scent of candy cane on Willa's breath. Willa leans back and sits back down on the table.
Jowee stands up and strides over to the kid. "Hello, what's your name? My name is Jowee"

"You know, you look alot like what I imagine an elf would look, Willa. Are you...?"
I ask incredulously. I'm not sure if this line of questioning will get any answers, but it couldn't hurt to try.

"Me, an elf? Look over there, that is an elf, big and tall, I'm short and tiny." Willa says with a snort of laughter. It is pointing to a member of the staff, who is wearing the elf costume and a permanent scowl.
A child pulls on the leggings of the costume to get his attention and he pushes the kid away. Willa watches with a hint of anger twinkling in its eyes. "Although that certainly wasn't very elf-like of him at all." It states.
Willa lifts her hand and a nearby large red bouncy ball starts bouncing. Willa makes a throwing gesture and the ball flies hitting below the elf's belt. He falls to the ground in pain. A smile dances on Willa's lips. "That's what happens when you do a bad impersonation." it whispers, barely loud enough for Jowee to hear.
Willa turns back to him and says, "In answer to your question; I don't know."

"How the heck do you not know what you are? You're messing with me, aren't you?" I look back at my friends at the table as if to ask for help then back to Willa.

I watch in silence as Lily walks to the elf, then look at the lighter kid next to me. Deciding the elf would probably make better company, I get up and follow Lily.
"Willa was just telling me she has no idea if she's an elf. I needed what's called "emotional suppport , thanks!" I graciously thank Lilly and Isaac for joining me and look back to Willa awaiting some follow-up to the strange things they've already said.

"Hmmm. Hey kido, you do know you're suppose to be on break right? What do you have a book for?" Willa asks Isaac.
Willa looks over all of the kids gathered around it. "Does it really matter what I am? I think it matters more where I am! And that somewhere is here!"
A staff member walks over and stares at Willa. "What are you kids doing? This place is a mess already, I don't like you guys congregating like this. Go play with something." She says, clearly unable to see Willa.
Willa smiles and Jowee sees a car slide into the path of the staff member. She trips and falls, getting a laugh from Willa.

not wanting to be alone and the other kids are the only ones willing to talk to me i walk up to ware they are and just sorta stand there.

Willa spies the lighter hidden in the new arrivals hand. "Well, there's someone who knows how to have fun! What do you say kid, want to see something cool? Or do you just want to shuffle around all week doing nothing but holding that lighter?" Willa asks, holding out her hand.
