Canada: Are we no better than this?
Man who waited 34 hours in ER died of infection
Absolutely ridiculous. For those who just want a sum up of the article:
A man entered ER after not being able to urinate for 24 hours due to a blocked catheter. He had an infected bladder, and needed treatment. He was in the ER for 34 hours, and had gone stiff before he was even brought to the medical staff's attention. He died when realistically, his treatment would have been incredibly simple and relatively quick.
I was actually quite devastated after reading this, and frankly, really pissed off. What do you all think about this? I really don't think that there is any way they could have been so busy to ignore someone who had been in the ER for so long.

I blame Grey's Anatomy.. In all seriousness this would actually happen a lot but not many cases turn fatal is all. Health care in Wellington NZ right now is pretty lacking. Hospitals under staffed, not enough space. I mean I waited a bit over a half an hour for the ambulance to come when my dad just had a fucken stroke.
Yeah, this really pisses me off as well because i've had issues like this similar to Tau when my dad had a heart attack. We had to wait ages for the ambulance to arrive and then had to wait a few hours to actually get him in there. But it's really only going to get worse.
Oh...
Maybe I won't have to learn Canadian after all.
Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to sell your kidneys, an arm, and a leg to pay for your ER visit.

Man that irritates me... similar carelessness we had to deal with some time last year with my dad. People kept treting for heart failure symptoms when the same treatments caused harm because he also had pulmonary hypertension. Example: giving him nitro glycerin, which almost killed him on the spot.
What makes that bad is that we even told doctors that he had these other diseases adn they just didn't listen.... would be interesting if that story was from doctors not listening when they were told a man with a bladder infection was waiting for treatment.
Carelessness in the hospital is in my mind the WORST thing out there... but still, 34 hours with no treatment isnt just careless, it's downright ridiculus.

Oh, this doesn't surprise me at all... I saw an actual video shown in the news, I forgot what channel... that this one lady died right in front of everyone in the waiting room, over something simple too... I mean, this, just like you said, is plain ridiculous. I wish I don't ever die because of someone's lazyness. >:(
