HI EVERYONE! :D

I thought I'd join in at last after playing so many games.
And naturally, like all newbies, I'd like to make a game as well :D I've got a lot of optimism and ideas but no skills so don't expect much.

Right now I got two questions that I might as well get off my chest:

1, where can I find animated avatars that this website will accept?

2, Would it be illegal if I used music, pictures and other content in my games that does not belong to me?
I have played some games with images of celebrities and music like "mad world" so I am not sure where to draw the line.
Is it allowed as long as you don't take credit for it and refer to whoever made it in the credits?

As I said, I got a lot of ideas and I'm watching a lot of tutorials so I just want to find out where my limitations lie :)
I am only aming to produce tiny games for free and I might not even get that far, but we'll see!

I never expect much. It's the secret to happiness - lower your expectations to the point where they're already met.

1. any image hosting service (including your 10mb locker here at RMN). it just needs to be no bigger than 150x150px

2. probably but no one really cares.
You now admitted to playing Dungeoneer. I like that.
Probably anyway.

Welcome!
Yes, you can use any link, pretty much. So long as it fits the size requirements.

Technically, for free stuff most people turn the other way. Doesn't always make it okay, but too little of an issue to pursue.
Be sure to always credit them, and you should be fine since it's for free.
There are a lot of free-to-use resources out there, too, so it largely depends on how you want to handle it.
Hi and thanks for welcoming me :)

I had a little problem with my avatar, which was the right size but the page wouldn't accept the url. Oh well, I'll see what I can find!

Ok, I've got a lot of music I'd like to use so I'll probably go nuts with it :D

Kylaila: Why do you think I play Dungeoneer? :P
The real question is .. did you? ;)

It has the song Mad World in town. Very very memorable. And a great game.

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

Welcome to the forum Bimbsy.
I have not played Dungeoneer.

If it helps, i'm using lots of copyrighted music in a free game i'm making. So you will not be alone in detention when and if we get busted.
Hi Mirak :) and thank you!

Well, I feel reassured now that you guys think it's ok ;)

What is this Dungeoneer- buisness you speak of? :P is it a common theory that people who play that game often come here or something?
I actually had to google it (>.<')

I used to own an old Nintendo 8-bit Nes 20 years ago when I was a child and have stubbornly refused to play other games than those kind of games.
So naturally RPG-maker games is my thing!

I'll tell you something else that's kind of embarrassing: I think it was only last year that I got over myself and learned how to play turn- based games, all thanks to the RPG-maker games!
My gamer friends would probably call me "stubborn" and they are SO right! ^^
*chuckle*

Aww... well, I tried. Making guesses just is fun. As said in white, it uses the track Mad World in its town, and it's just highly memorable in use.
Too bad then! It's a good game though.
Ah, I see :) I didn't see that :D
I think I hear "Mad world" here and there, In movies like Donnie Darko or cool games like Beautiful Escape :)
(Well, those are the only two I could think of actually! lol!)
.. the full game title is
"Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer"
So I was right after all!

... it's no fun now tho. :/
I just realised that we are probably talking about the same game after all since the game is called "Beautiful escape: dungeoneer" :P
A very interesting game by the way!
*sigh*

Communication. Oh well..
