I'M GOING ON VACATION! BUT WHERE DO I GO??

So I work two jobs as of right now, with one controlling my 'main' schedule and the other reacting to what I inform them the main schedule is. But early this April, my main employer is giving me an entire week off (that's 7 days) for my second job!

Due to my unique circumstances I can basically set my own schedule and say fuck it to both jobs and just take a goddamn vacation.

So. Fuck both jobs, I'm taking a goddamn vacation. I haven't had one in 5 years.

But I have no idea where I want to go! I live in the U.S so there are a lot of places to choose from. I always wanted to go out west to the plains, or even past that to Oregon or the west coast. But I have a tiny little Chevy Aveo that only holds 10 gallons in the tank and it might be quite the arduous journey for it (not to mention that it would probably take the whole damn week just driving there).

I'm not going to be bringing anyone and likely won't visit anybody, I just want some alone time to go out and see all the stuff I've been missing cooped up in the heartland. Maybe do a little camping even, if I can find all my old camping stuff.

Wherever you go, stay the hell away from me. >:X
When I have some days off I tend to just drive to some (fairly nearby) town and just walk around (while listening to podcasts because I'm a nerd). I find this to be sort of fun actually. Wandering around places I've never been before and just looking around (and trying hard never to go back the way I came. Though there are so many dead ends...)

I think I have visited nearly all village churches in Southwestern Finland by now :) (because churches usually have free and available parking)

Six hour walks around a strange town stopping at a kebab place. That's a vacation.
For vacations like that I tend to lock myself in a basement and play videogames and watch movies. Or take a quick trip to a lake.

it might be helpful to know where in the USA you live. it's a pretty big place.

Ohio. I did say "the heartland" and Ohio is the big red heart of America:
It rarely make unpleasant commotions and function reliably.

Doesn't matter when, a staycation is what I recommend. Or better yet, don't be a jerk. Unwind by being a man, and going to work.

But in reality, Alaska is really nice this time of year. Things have started back up after winter, but the tourist-scene hasn't hit its full stride yet. Probably not a road trip, but I'm not sure where I'd roadtrip to from where you live...
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Go to an event or location that focuses on stuff you enjoy doing.

When I was growing up we always took tropical vacations and I fucking hated it. My vacations are to anime/gaming conventions.
If you're looking to go camping then I recommend Grand Teton national park in Wyoming. It's easily the most beautiful state in the country--only Utah comes close.

Only people in the USA reliably know what 'heartland' refers to in the USA. Their regional labels are all over the place. For example, 'mid-west' refers to a bunch of eastern and central states. There's nothing 'west' about it unless you are in New York.

now, if you said 'what's high in the middle and round on both ends?'...

Missouri is probably closest to the center of the U. S. I would accept Illinois and Wisconsin as Mid-West, but Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio are really too far east to really say they're anywhere near the west. I know Texas considers itself a Midwestern state, having been lectured on it by actual Texans, but they think they're special and above all others, so of course, would actually think they're in the middle of the country.

Personally, Isrieri, if finances permit, I'd get a rental car and go to Baltimore (don't trust that tin can you've got. 10 gallon tank: if a car is designed for short range, it is not going to be a very good transport on anything long range). I've always wanted to see the site where the Declaration of Independence was signed and visit the Liberty Bell. Oh, and Edgar Allen Poe's grave.
