The OU rules sound pretty fair to me! It pretty much just outlaws legendaries, mega evos (not sure if it's all of them?) and a baton pass team. The only one I'm a little iffy on is the baton pass team. (Then again, I don't have much experience with getting completely destroyed by that strategy, so I don't know how hard it is to actually defend against.)
My main issue is the Smogon Rules which fall under that OU ruleset, those rules are really restrictive like no doubles, no same items, that rubbish. I want people to have fun, not be restricted ;w;
You can just edit the rules so that the parts you think are too restrictive aren't in there! Having some restrictions should help people have fun as long as they'e not terrible.

Hmm... good point, I just feel many would be confused by that... I sorta wanted to instead say "Don't be a dick" to cover things like not making battles infinite or unfun or anything.

Mirak, did you check if your team is valid for OU smogon battles?
I'll say this though, the only pokemon games i played were pokemon red in game boy color and a tiny bit of gold. Ocassionally i would play pokemon snap and pokemon stadium on the 64. I'm not a *fan* of pokemon and don't know what rules you guys are talking about. To me it sounds like those people who play smash bros melee with all sorts of made up restrictions. I looked up "smogon rules" and i didn't understand what i was doing wrong, since i did not pick any pokemon featured on the list of forbidden pokemon, so i don't know what to do.
In the website kloe linked to i clicked on the tab that said "Gen1 Stadium" because it's the only one i could recognize, i picked six pokemon from the list, edited their attacks and everything, and then i tried to battle people with it, but it won't let me pick my team, it only lets me play random battles with a random selection of pokemon (i always lose).

If you're not sure what a lot of these terms mean, it'd probs be a good idea to read up a bit on competitive Pokemon. Smogon's guide is pretty good.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Last time I played Pokemon Showdown I couldn't figure out how to figure out what any of the different formats were. I can't possibly imagine why Pokemon Showdown's front page doesn't have a list of the rules for each format. And if your team doesn't meet a format's rules, it doesn't even tell you why, it just says "Nope." It's enough to keep 99.9% of people from playing.
Of course, since the last time I played, all my teams have been deleted again. Fuck that site. They can store replays of all my battles but they can't store my goddamn teams?
I like the idea of Pokemon Showdown, but in practice, if you're doing anything other than a randomized team you should just give up. It's a neat alpha build of what they're trying to make but the site is not in a playable state yet.

author=KloeYou mean no TMs? This is a really dumb rule. Without TMs, only like thirty pokemon are actually useful, and each pokemon's moveset is extremely predictable, and the game is super boring.

I mean, people will put up with anything if it has Pokemon in the title. It's pretty clear they got the technical parts working, got to the point of development where they needed to create an interface, and said, "Eh, fuck it, we'll do that later. For now just open it up for testing and see if anyone can figure it out."
Right, we'll take it decently slow but we'll be starting by Monday so make sure you have your teams ready.
