GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT RPG MAKER FORUMS

Posts

Pages: 1
I'm not new to the site, but I am new to the Forums.

I have some general questions to ask if anybody can help me out here.

1: how do you reply to a comment someone posted on the forum page you're on? There doesn't seem to be a neat "reply" button ready for such an event.

2: Is it wrong to request beta-testers for a game? If not, where would I go to do that?

3: How long should a post be typically?

I'd just like some quick help, that's all. Nothing big.

Any feedback is appreciated.

A post can be of one word, if that one word has context with the thread.

Generally either make a status or I guess post in the job board.

Long enough to get your point across? I mean shit half of my posts are single-sentence white noise that contributes nothing, and nobody's stopped me from posting yet, so obviously the bar is not set very high.

You seem to be way tentative about doing anything at all, judging from this and your posts of "How do I not make a bad thing?" on gam mak. Relax: we're used to people screwing up and/or doing dumb things, and mostly the worst you'll get is a quick, "Hey, don't do that."

Just sit back and enjoy the dual pleasures of gam mak and babbling about things that may or may not be tangentially related to gam mak.
For beta-testers there's also this thread and you can set up a gamepage and make a blog asking for peeps there (it's also possible to have hidden downloads added so only peeps added can view it, gamepages are neat)

I would recommend to set up a gamepage first. If you're in need of beta, your game is probably ready to show some booty. You can post a request blog on the gamepage. Also chatting on Slack may be a good way to find people willing to test your game.

Gonna also say in using fora it helps to actually join your conversations, rather than just making a post and then letting the answers roll in.

It's all about the interaction here. I mean, we're perfectly happy to talk/slapfight amongst ourselves, but if you never respond, the only impression we get is "That guy what comes in and asks questions and never does anything else."
I dont think any of the bars at RMN are particularly high.

We'll probably make fun of you if you're especially bad at spelling/grammar, which is more than many fora I've seen.

Really? So like this? That's a strange way to reply to someone really. But I guess if it works, then it works.

Alright, I'm pretty sure I have the gamepage up already. But what is Slack?

I can deal with that. There are worse things to be made fun of.
First tip of the day: Don't multipost. Instead, hit the handy-dandy Edit button at the bottom of your post and add more to it~

Also, if you hit Quote on multiple posts they will all show up in the body of your Reply, so you can quote multiple people in one post easily. Just keep that in mind for the future. X3

Also, welcome~ This thread is recommended reading (sorry it's so long orz ): https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/17599/
