THE WEIRD THINGS YOU DO
Posts
Let's post about weird things you do when you play video games. I'll start:
Whenever I start a new RPG, I will always seek out the nearest save point, save, and quit. Then I won't touch the game again for like half an hour or more. Doesn't matter what game it is. No special reason for it either.

I actively search every single area, talking to everything trying to find hidden items or secret areas. It always upsets me when I can't find them all either, like when I played Condemned. Those Birds are hard to find!

One weird thing I do concerns how long I take to beat a game. I bought LOZ: Twilight Princess the first day it came out(along with the Wii) and I haven't beat it yet. I will play a game for a little while, take a break for a few months, then play again.
Of course, not ALL games are like this but most of them are.
When i'm playing an RPG, I tend to want to explore every corner and talk to every person. I guess this is the same with all games I play. I just don't like to miss out on something.
Concerning the second thing I mentioned...I bought Lunar: Eternal Blue(PS, it's the complete collection with everything such as the soundtrack, pendant, etc.) and Zack and Wiki(Wii) and I haven't touched either one yet. I'll get to them shortly!
No matter the game, I always go to any "Options" or "Settings" menus before playing. It's like a compulsion.
Since I've actually got some income these days, I have a tendency to buy games that I have no time to play just because I support what the makers were trying to do. I've did this with Zack and Wiki, Okami, The World Ends With You and about a dozen others.

I get to the very end of a game, and actually not, if ever beat it. I have tons of games I've actually gotten to the very end and haven't gone on to beat them until well more than a year later.

I do this. Far, far too much.
Yeah, me too. Even with games I love. The Nippon Ichi games are especially prone to it, probably because I spend so much time on the (not-quite-)post-game stuff
I can never use a non-default name and I don't know why. I always have to look up the proper one if it's not provided in-game.
Also, I always throw every one-use permanent buff-up item one the main character. Don't know why. I just do.

author=Blitzen link=topic=2152.msg35923#msg35923 date=1223180987WTF? How could you.... That's so weird I can't even get my head around it.....
I play video games. (I know!)
Seriously, what the hell?
Some of the stuff you guys do is weird as haha. Especially the whole go to the very end but not bother to finish. Only weird thing I would do is if I'm playing a game a second time through or making another save for a certain part of a game I tend to save it in the 3rd slot instead of the second as to not confuse each save for whenever I come back to the game.
As for me, I usually explore everything. Get every item I can possibly get, talk to every NPC and I never skip battles (if there are any)! When I replay the game, I usually talk to all the NPCs and explore everywhere again, even though I know what they'll say or what's there. I also give all the best items, etc to the main character (even if it is Vaan!) ::).
Su's or bust
I do use other models but once they're unlocked I use some Su 90% of the time pretty much just because they're awesome (and the Su-37 has FAEBs in ACZ, making it the do-anything jet)

I try to avoid using "fast travel" in Oblivion whenever possible, and sometimes when playing games like Oblivion/System Shock/Bioshock/Deus Ex I do weird little things that don't really effect the game or story for "roleplaying reasons". Like in Morrowind/Oblivion I try and make sure my character eats at least one meal and gets eight hours of sleep every day even though the game doesn't penalize you for not doing that.
In Morrowind, at one point, one of my characters took a break from questing/adventuring and spent a summer living as a farmer, which the game's economy actually makes possible. In Oblivion my character has an extensive library and will frequently read books by the fire before bed.
I do the same shit in most Grand Theft Auto games, actually, and actively try to avoid killing people or commiting crimes unless it's for a good reason, trying to make the game more realistic by my actions.
The entire appeal of Final Fantasy Tactics for me is creating the weirdest possible (yet most effective) class combinations. In my current game, my "Ramza" is Roland, and is effectively a GUNSLINGER. The one time I ever beat the game, he was a teleporting ninja.

A bad habit I have with many things, but especially games is that I will obsess over them for two-three days, and I mean, I will do nothing but play it, or look up stuff related to it, or whatever... And then without beating it, around the fourth day, I never want to see it again. And I don't for about eight months, when I start the game over and repeat process....
It don't think it's strange, but I refuse any help or spoiler in the very slightest, from the name of a location I haven't been to, to a characters name. I don't want to know anything about the game until it comes up in the game.
This is due to the plot twists in Lufia and Final Fantasy VII being ruined for me, and now I'm hyper-defensive.
