[RMMV] HOW CAN I BETTER ADD DEPTH TO MOUNTAIN MAPS?

Afternoon,
I've been avoiding working on the mountainous area of my game because I knew I would have trouble designing a good map with depth. I was right.
Does anyone have any tips I can use to improve this?

Maybe something like this?

To be honest without context on the setting it's hard to give a suggestion.

That is actually rather excellent. I still doubt my capacity to reach that level of skill.
The setting is actually a mountain pass. It's travelled rather often by merchants and caravans. The path is not between any major cities so the road isn't paved but the vegetation has been worn away.
Is that enough?

You can do it!
Here's the map for you to play with!
Rename it to a map number that is blank on your game project. Close it and and then replace the map json in the project/data folder.
It's actually really easy to do it. You would need to do some shift mapping though.
Ideally you want stuff mostly 3 tiles wide (it's usually a 'just right' number). And since it's naturey, you want it to be less symmetrical.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
I think I've gotten a lot better but I'm still not satisfied. I hear I can use shift-clicking to greatly improve mountainous areas. Could you give me an example of how that may help?

Here's a quick tutorial I did a while ago.
Here's a longer one that's more in depth.
