I'M NOT MAKING CAT VIDEOS~ (YOUTUBE CHANNEL INFORMATIONAL GATHERING)

Alright, folks. With the new twist of the staff roster, myself and Eplipswich have stepped up to moderate the RMN Youtube Channel. First things first;

What RMN content do you buggers want to see video-ified?

We'll use this thread as a first measure to get an idea of what to focus on. Our plan is to get what you, the community, wants to see in video form. Post your thoughts here!

---> Here is the Youtube page for RMN! <---
I vote cat videos.

-Maybe a short video about the featured game?
-Tutorials obviously
-Dog videos

That's all I got.
I do recommend making a playlist for LP/Ts that are added to the site. Another for game trailers. That way you won't have to upload videos but can still spotlight.

Interviews with creators of finished and in production games, and 'First Looks' or previews of popular/promising in production on the site. You can also do things like '5 Things I Want to See in X Game' based on what you already know about the game via blog posts and stuff like that.

I'm being serious though, for example

You could easily do something like that (not exactly like that, but use your imagination man, shit) with a game that has a good deal of information available, for example, Shadows of Adam.

If we treat promising games in production/finished seriously as endevours of time and energy that are fun to be played (and not just picked apart/fawned over by us developers), surprise, people will actually play them. This site isn't just for devs! Use the Youtube as an opportunity to get promising games some more players!

That's what I want you to keep in mind for RMN's Youtube channel and associated ideas; something for the developers and the players. This won't be the only aim of the Youtube, of course! But keep it in mind. I think my ideas will serve well in this regard.

yeah, similar to this. maybe a series where you sit down and play a game with the developer while you discuss the game and can get their thoughts on why the did certain things etc

Of course! This is pretty much what I have in mind! As one who is more of a player than a developer, I'm all for showcasing games that show promise.

I plan to start off with a general video for what is going to happen with the YouTube channel before proceeding with videos of latest happenings (highlighting things like latest games and events to check out) that I aim to upload some time by this weekend. Particularly upcoming games like Fake Happy End and Shadows of Adam.

In the meantime, we have spoofed up the YouTube page a little and Illy has uploaded the first video in ages! Take a look at it here and the video below!

EDIT: Also, if there are any games that you feel need to be promoted, feel free to suggest them here! That may be part of our jobs, but of course, we are not superhumans. We can't be spending round the clock finding any notable games. So any input from the community is welcome!

By my humble opinion, here should be both content for the community (5 things we expect from Kentona, Sterrence Adventure!, Games and chat with developers) and content reaching out (tutorials, video reviews of featured games, trailers for events), which can get us new members.

Maybe it would be worthwhile to compile some playlists of other channels' Let's Plays (or just the first episode of LP series) to make visitors of the RMN channel aware that they exist. Alternatively, perhaps you could look around for good existing or ongoing LPs and ask the creators if you can feature them on RMN's channel, too.
Also, it would probably be beneficial to seek collaboration with other RM-focused channels and channels of Let's Players who are active here. (Liberty immediately comes to mind, but there are many more.)

I don't actually think we should do clickbait stuff on the RMN channel. These only really work by sponging off of already-popular stuff.

On this subject, I think some showcase collections of well-regarded games by genre would be good, both to advertise something people might want to try, and also to show that RPGMaker isn't just about Final Fantasy ripoffs.

Another possibility would be "If you liked (X popular RPGMaker game), try these!" to point people who are into the big properties toward lesser-known stuff.

I know, but I was expanding on the idea I meant, so I figure it was a good opportunity to do so.

Agreed tbh

Is there any way we could get someone to generate monthly video reviews on the Featured Games - like "official" reviews for RMN or something?

We could also look into:
  • Hosting RMN Podcast Audio on YouTube (doesn't have to be the official podcast)
  • "Question and Answer" interviews with notable developers
  • Maybe like silly "top 5" videos, like "top 5 horror RPGs", "top 5 animal games", etc
These are all good suggestions. Keep em' coming and we'll see what we can do!
I second tutorials! A tutorial series on the official YouTube channel would be great for newcomers to the website and RPG Maker in general; likely, they're going to be looking for (video) help on the basics, so what better platform than the YT channel that's link can be pinned somewhere visible on the website? :D

Maybe we can even partner up with other YouTubers who have done (or are still doing) RPG Maker tutorials on a new tutorial project for the channel - this way, both channels mutually gain via exposure.
I could do tutorials. I own VX Ace and RPGMaker2k3, and they seem simple enough.

"Make a chest!"
"Make a door!"

All could be quick 5-10 min videos. I think I'll make a line of VX Ace ones.
If you do that, I'd highly suggest a video on labels in ACE because that discovery was great for me!

Also, the RMN Roulette is cool! Illy was a little too quiet for the entirety (including the beginning) but I enjoyed watching~

Oh, and posting uploads into a thread dedicated to it would probably help the channel out a bit in the beginning so I'd suggest keeping that up. ^.^

That'd be cool! Heck, even tutorials like how to proficiently navigate and use RPG Maker's interface would definitely benefit new developers! :D

Oh believe me, I've been up down back forth in out and backwards when it comes to what you can do in an RM engine that doesn't involve scripting. And I should have the audio problem licked next video, I should of tested it properly beforehand.
