DEVELOPING AN RPG FOR SCIENCE EDUCATION

Dear All,

I have always loved Rpgs be it Zelda or Final Fantasy. As a teacher I have always aspired to provide students with flexible and open learning pathways. Now I hope to combine the 2 concepts. I would like to develop a 2d rpg (I have 0 programming skills) Where students can explore a virtual world as a 2d character, interacting with other characters who would set the students tasks (essentially assignments). E.g students avatar walks into a climate lab on a mountain and is asked by a scientist to investigate the correlation between co2 emissions and global warming. There would then be a live we link to a google doc with the activity, or video or other external Web based content.

So my questions to anyone in the know are this:
1. Is there a piece of software paid or free, online or downloadable that would be suitable for this project. Bearing in mind I can't program, I realise I am limited.
2. Is this program able hyperlink to external Web based sites, docs.

Many thanks in advance.
RPG Maker MV is probably your best option. For hyperlinks, you can use this plugin.

You can find the basics of how to make games with MV from various tutorials online. Google around a bit, and of course the community here is always willing to help.

Thanks a heap - I was actually looking at this software. It looks awesome!
