[RMMV] [RMVX ACE] BEGINNER LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCE

I can't seem to wrap my head around game stuff, so maybe using what I learnt from half-finished games can help some people?

I can ultimately provide some "programming" (You know, the drag and drop thing?) to RPG maker Ace and MV and potentially character sprites.

They told me I was mad when I said I was going to create a spidertable. Who’s laughing now!!!

The best experience is just to mak gam. And also ask people how to do things; maybe even solicit a mentor on the help board.

A good chunk of my gam mak experience is either googling or begging unity to tell me how to do a thing. There are loads of great tutorials and helpful people around here, so it's super easy to get going!

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

Remember, you won't make great games if you don't make crappy games first! Make lots of stuff.

tbh, I'm just stuck at 'story', It's hard to make rpgs unless you have some kind of plot going about.

Then... make a game with minimal story? Like, I dunno, a fetch-the-McGuffuns game?

Yeah, the original RPGs of video games had the basic plot of "Thing there: go get," or "Him bad, go kill," and that was fine. (One can argue that the games of today really just boil down to those two plots anyway.)

Leaving plot to just the basest form allows you to focus on the gameplay, which is probably what you want to work with the most anyway. Technically, all you need is some kind of dungeon- doesn't even need to be more than one screen!- and some form of gameplay, whether that be fights, puzzles, or whatever. You don't even need dialog unless you are super keen on doing that: just give the "plot" description in the game page and leave the rest to the player.
