CloseSo I just recently brought RPG Maker MV and I am creating a game now!
Anyways. My problem is that the character maker doesn't have what I need to make a character. Im not really sure how to create a sprite. I've heard that Gimp is a good free program, but even if I got it. I wouldn't know how to even make the sprite as I've never done such a style before.
Or even know how to put it in the game.

Try editing the base sprites to start with. Mess around with them and see what you can do. Also check out some of the resource sections on both this site and RMW - you can find a lot of free-to-use stuff and some of them will be additions to the character generator.

If you have steam and can hold out for 15 bucks I would recommend game character hub. It has a lot of parts and resources for making sprites built into it as well as a good workshop community on steam with lots of good extra parts for making custom sprites. It's what I'm using for my own sprites in my fan game. :-)
