QUESTION ABOUT BUYING THE FULL VERSIONS.

Are they bought individually or can I get XP and 2k3 free if I buy VX? I've been working on a project in XP, but I neglected to try VX as well. Now, id they're bought individually, I'll have to do one of the following four things: abandon all post-conception progress on Catastrophe and start over in VX, be stuck with an outdated and inferior version, pay $120 for both XP and VX, or resort to pirating XP. I don't really want to do any of these.
Of course, I'll try out VX once my XP trial runs out in a few days.

They're definitely bought individually.
Also, buying 2k3 would mean buying a Japanese version. All the English versions are illegal. But people use it anyways, Enterbrain doesn't really care as long as you don't sell your 2k3 game. If you want 2k3 a Google search would work wonders (to get a free copy.) I suggest against pirating XP or VX, but that's just me.
Also, XP is not inherently inferior to VX. They're just different. (I prefer 2k3 over all, since it's the best for graphics. Never mind what other people say.) VX has many disadvantages compared to XP. (Which probably has just as many disadvantages compared to VX.)
XP and VX are superior to 2k3 in terms of technical power: 2k3 only has commands while XP and VX can use scripts. However, fluent usage of 2k3 has given me more than what I need.

2k = Free/Pirated only
2k3 = Free/Pirated only
XP = $60
VX = $60
Projects are non-transferable. Uhhhhh inferior is a terrible word to use as they are all good in their own ways. Although XP and VX have much greater capabilities. Also, I'm not sure where you got the bundled idea. I've never heard of something like that.
EDIT: Eh, I was beat here. Oh wells.

^You forgot rpgmaker 95 and 98 :( (98 is impossibly hard to find though and a complete english translation was never done. Its also older than 95, being a port of an earlier consle version.)
XP and VX both have their limitations and advantages over each other. Before deciding on which you want to use you might look them up.

You should say
XP = $60 / Pirated
VX = $60 / Pirated
I know half of the people with VX haven't paid for it ;)

Also, since neither one is really "better" than the other, I'll probably just stick with XP so I don't have to redo anything. Although, does anybody know what exactly the advantages and disadvantages are? Thanks.

You... shouldn't tell people to pirate things. >_>

They're only sold individually.
VX has blocky graphics and some sort of disadvantage involving changing chipsets or something. I've never used so I don't really know.

I didn't say to pirate them, I'm just saying that they have been pirated :-X

RPG Maker 98, despite its name, is actually from 1992. There was a later version called RPG Maker 98 II made in 1996, shortly before RPG Maker 95- which itself was made in 1997.
I have never used 95. I almost want to give it a shot to see how simple making games were back in the day. xD
I like what we've seen done with VX, which is why we decided to buy it. I haven't used XP yet, but I might give the trial a looksee when we have the money to pick it up.

Well I honestly disagree. I think that the engine of XP feels very slippery to me...I don't know if it's a resolution issue or what but there's something weird about the way the graphics move...

What I'm saying is that VX games are not automatically better than XP.
Something could make a great XP game and a shitty VX game. VX wouldn't make the game itself better.
