For resurrection could we complete a game that belongs to someone else, as long as we get permission to do so. All my games are completed.
That's not a good idea lol. Imagine if you just destroy the original author intentions by adding something he/she dosn't like... Eeeeh, IDK XD

I was thinking of going after games that the author clearly has no intentions of ever finishing.

Aaaah ok, like eeeh, cancelled games, right?

I'm not sure if I would support resurrecting another person's project, cancelled or otherwise, even with permission. That's just me, though.

That aside, I'll be putting up another MaMa this year (it's about bloody time we got three done) but that's not a site-run thing.

Aaaaaaaawwwwww yeeeeeaaaaaah!

I would be up to some micro McBacon. 2-3 days long colab with laid-back theme or based around some simple idea. Yeah, I think that RMN could do with a shorter regular event. Also, I have so many people I would love to work with, but I'm a lazy bastard to do so on my own. This would be an ideal proving ground.
A Regular would be ideal in January/February. Not later, spring is usually quite busy and lazy when it comes to gammak.

Could do a round robin type, where you toss interested people's names in a hat and draw 2-4 for each team. And then for each team you draw random words from another hat and each team has to use their set of words to compile a game. That way each team and game would be unique. The games would def be shorter too, since its a short collab.

I have the same mindset as CashmereCat, don't really mind when that much, as long as there's a McBaconJam :V

Ultimately, I think this is how all but three of us feel.

author=Mirak
oh god with the game jams with ridiculously short deadlines aren't you people tired of producing barely playable, bug ridden, unpolished crap?

EDIT: You know what nevermind, i'm tired of fighting a losing battle, you guys can keep on doing your 1-week games and i'll fuck off somewhere else for game jams and contests.
It's longer than a week though. ;w; Also, unpolished crap is my entire style of game making. xD

Edit: oops you edited nevermind - you can nevermind this my b >.<

McBacon Jam is between a month to two months, depending on Ziggy's mood.

Unpolished crap is my favourite kind of crap. It's foolish to polish it. And yeah, McBacons are long and exhausting.

I like game jams. Nearly all my games were made for game jams. I usually don't have enough pressure to finish 'em otherwise.

Agreed. I'm able to keep on delaying my games into oblivion. The fact is that sites like itch.io offer a load of them and It's good when events here are somehow special too.

I think that it would be nice to add more smaller forums only events (like NeSi's anti-procrastination thread) and make rewarding competitions (like RPGology was). I think that IGMC kind of killed them around here. And I think that best rewards don't cost actual money as they can be a drawing or a track.
I think that a small weekend long jam could be forums only or even discord oriented.

Well, having that pressure of a shorter time-span means things actually get done. At least for me. Maybe the result isn't any damn good, but, it's all about the sense of accomplishment and the Makerscore.

Though, it's also true that smaller events are a reason to procrastinate on the "main" project...

author=https://rpgmaker.net/articles/1141/
It's not that procrastinators are lazy, it is that they busy themselves with doing things other than what they are supposed to be doing. Or, at the very least, focusing on tasks that produce relatively little value while avoiding the tasks that would generate the greatest results. By focusing on the little easy tasks, you are tricking your brain into thinking you are accomplishing something worthwhile, even when you really aren't. You are procrastinating by working! It's almost contradictory, but it works! (unlike you, hahaha!). If you are feeling especially compelled to do constructive work, make excuses instead. It is a draining effort that will result in both procrastination and despondency!
I just want to point out that of the events in the past year:
Winterruption went for a month.
McBJ4 went for a month and a half.
Retromania went for a week (but it was a birthday event so it was always going to be a short one as all birthday events are).
GayMak went for a bit over two weeks.
All Hallows Eve was a month long event.
McBJ3 was over a month.
Super RMN World 2 was over a month.
RMN 9th Birthday was over the course of a weekend.

That is, only three game making events in the last year were short, and of those two are traditionally so. So in essence, discounting the birthday events, we've had one short game making event (2 weeks) in a year.

It might seem like more because time tends to slip away fast, and there were non-game making events ran inbetween them.
Game Page Workshop ran for 2 weeks.
Kids Design ran for about a month.
Review Kingdom was a 2 week affair.

The reason non-gammak events are shorter are because people are less inclined to spend long times focussed on events like that. Granted, we could have made the review event a bit longer, but yeah.

The reason we don't run events that are months long are because we don't want to pull people away from their main projects for too long. A month is pretty much the dropping point, as people start to get tired of pushing time limits to their edge after too long. When you stay in the constant zone of "Not enough time! Gotta get this done!" you're more likely to burn yourself out, which is why we try to offer short non-gammak events here and there, and time off in-between events.

As for the planned events for the rest of the year:
- Halloween event is month long as always.
- Secret Santa is about 2-3 weeks, and non-gammak.
- RMNlympics is also non-gammak and likely will be 1-2 weeks. Maybe 3 at the most.
- One shorter game event because there are people who like them and miss having something shorter that they can challenge themselves with in a few 'bites'.

:/

I don't get your sudden hate, Mirak, this isn't like you.

I think we could use a non gammak event right about now before we get to resurrection jam.

I have done Secret Santa every year for a while, so it will probably be a for sure thing for me this year. I sorta feel the McBacon things are going on all the time. Also, my experience in the third one wasn't very good.

And Libs don't foget Misaos, not an event, but it's still out there. I might start a thread on that in a month or two.
