Hi all. I'm new to RPGM world. I have been hesitant for about a year because it seems that RPGM games and devs get a really bad rap. However, I've seen that the community is really supportive of each other despite this outside judgment, so as I read more and more interactions and tutorials, I figured I give this a go. I've been worldbuilding a story series for about 10-15 years now and keep getting caught in a rut. I'm a very visual person now, whereas I wasn't back then, and am hoping that by slowly learning RPGM basics and plugins, I can begin transferring my world and short works to the engine as small RPGs, and slowly build the larger story I've been hoping to tell over time. I look forward to the struggles, your advice, and critique. Thanks for reading.

Hi there! Welcome to RMN, I hope that you can have fun here and that you do the best gam mak that you can. I wish you luck on your world building thing and I suggest you do exactly waht you said and start off with small short games, that's the best way of learning how to use RPG maker and also how to develop games.

Any more questions, just ask on the forums, the folks here are very helpful and you'll learn plenty as long as you're willing to experiment around with stuff on your own as well.

Have good day.

Yeah, RPGMaker has the same problem Unity does, only moreso: a lot of really crappy devs just fling junk games onto the market with it, so it becomes difficult to find anything really good.

(It's also kind of a limited engine and JRPGs are super not popular, so yeah.)

That being said, don't worry about making anything popular, just make the best games you can make!

People that says RPGMaker devs or games suck should see what most of, for example, Unity devs make and sell on Steam. Youtubers like Jim Sterling play a lot of those "games". Go watch some of his videos and have a good laugh. XD

When you have an easy-to-use tool backed up by an active community and a sort of assets store, or some kind of easy way to get all kind of resources, then it's easy to expect people throwin out junk games like it is nothing. And sell them as well. The nerve those people have xD.

That said, all of these tools have their own merits, their pros and cons. Just pick one and go with it, RPG Maker's fine!

And welcome, Kirkcharty!^^
