[RMMV] VS [RMVX ACE]... WHICH LAGS LESS?

Posts

Pages: 1
When I see let's play videos on youtube, I see a disturbing amount of lag and framerate drops for even the most simple games made in RMMV. If having my game play smoothly (like rm2k and rm2k3) is a priority, is there any hope for making a game in RMMV or RMVX Ace?

EDIT: Or is it likely that the video capture software the youtubers are using is to blame?

No, MV is just crap, use Ace.
Short answer: RPG Maker MV is an inherently laggy engine.

Long answer: Read this thread.

MV is laggy.
VX Ace is not.

It's not a question of which one lags less. One lags and the other doesn't
It would be nice to have benchmark tests instead of just anecdotes, all things considered.

It took some hard research, but here are the bench marks:

Just a warning that VX Ace will also lag if your maps are too large or too overloaded with events.
There are anti-lag scripts for that, but they come with issues of their own and need to be handled carefully.
MV is highly dependent on the graphics card and computer specs of the person sadly :/
Well I don't have a powerful PC (cheap laptop, with intel HD), but most MV games run at stable 60 fps... Maybe it has something to do with all the crap plugins people use. (the change in the scripting language might have affected the plugins quality. RGSS was around here for years)
Played a certain MV game, opening up a menu took a few second. Shame, the game looks good, but I didn't get comfortable experience so that I had to close the game all together. Granted, it just one game, another MV game I played run smoothly. But I haven't gotten much lag like that in any Ace games
Nice to see some dissenting opinions, for once. If you go on the official RPG Maker forums or r Rpgmaker, pretty much all you hear is "Get MV, because it's the newest."
