WHICH RPG MAKER TO CHOOSE? PLEASE HELP

Hi Everyone!

Please excuse me for jumping right into a generic question right off the bat here, I don't mean to offend anyone by skipping the proper introductions.

The reason I made an account here and created this Topic was because I need some quick help from you guys if it would be possible, I've been eyeing the RPG Maker series on Steam for quite some time now and flash-sale just happens to be happening right now so I thought this would be the perfect time to invest.

I have been hugely into gaming ever since I was a little kid, and back then I used to spend a great deal of my free time coming up with stories and drawing maps and characters for non-existent games, so when I first heard of RPG Maker I was instantly very intrigued.

My question for you guys and girls is out of the many generations of RPG Makers that are now available on Steam, which one would you recommend for purchase?

Here is a little information about myself that might help you answer that question for me..

1. This may be the only RPG Maker game I ever purchase, so I would like for it to be the best "overall" one to showcase what it can do, but if I end up falling in love with it entirely and more new features and RPG maker's are released I may consider purchasing them.

2. As much as I would love to spend day/night on RPG Maker designing games, realistically I have a very busy life so as this is also going to be my FIRST RPG Maker style game, I would like for it to be one that is at least somewhat casual friendly so that I don't have to spend the majority of my time figuring out how the program even works and can actually enjoy more of the time I spend developing my game.

3. I would however like for the RPG Maker I choose to provide one of the highest level of visual quality, often times newer versions of games are an easy way to tell but I am not sure how this works with RPG Maker games. The reason the Quality is important to me is that if I do ever end up falling so in love with something I've created that I would be willing to spend countless hours on it until it's a fully polished final product I would like for it to be able to compete in the gaming world so that I can share it with others to try, I don't want my game to be only for my self, and I know how much Quality of a game can attract or scare away new players.

4. Finally this one is actually maybe not so important, but because I do produce my own music on Ableton I would be curious if there was easy support in all the RPG Maker games to add your own music and soundtracks. That would be pretty cool too.

Okay, so I guess my post ended up being a bit longer than I was anticipating, but that said I would really appreciate if some of you could perhaps read over what I am looking for and help me decide precisely which RPG Maker game would be best for me to purchase! Thanks in advance everybody! Cheers!
1. All of the RPG Maker engines are pretty solid (well, except for RM2K3 and it's clunky combat system). The latest engine (MV) is a safe pick.
2. If you know one RPG Maker engine, you know them all. They mostly function the same, more or less.
3. If by visual quality, you mean original screen resolution, I believe MV has the highest. Of course, if you talk about general graphics, it wouldn't matter much which engine you pick, because they all support custom resources to be used.
4. RM2K and RM2K3 only support .midi I think, but the later engines support higher quality files to be used (such as .m4a in MV).

I thought TsuK3/2K3 could play MP3's? It's been a while, but, I seem to recall including some in my entries for Liberty's Manor Map Madness games.

RPG Maker VX Ace is currently the best choice imo.
Some people might suggest MV.

Don't even think about trying RPG Maker 2000 or 2003 for your first go around.
Anyone who suggests these 2 you is working off of nostalgia and not a general regard for how easy they are to use.

I would vote on VX Ace too. MV still crap w/pictures.

Try out VX Ace Lite if it's still around. If you're hooked, buy the regular version.
Thank you all so much for the Responses, based on what everyone is suggesting I believe that VX Ace is probably going to be my best choice ^^

Only 1 More Question for you guys if you don't mind,

I was about to purchase VX Ace (It actually happens to be 70% off on Steam right now btw) however I couldn't help but notice that the other RPG Maker MV is a newer released product, I believe VX Ace is from 2012 and MV is from 2015..

Could anyone explain to me how come the majority of you recommended the older version VX Ace? Thanks! After this I will be sure of my decision haha
VX Ace is probably the best choice at the moment. MV does have some advantages over Ace such as better resolution options, and gives you a few more in-editor toggles such as Sideview battles, but it is unfortunately a less stable engine and demands much more in terms of system requirements from your players.

There's not a ton you can do with MV that Ace doesn't already do reasonably well, so you might not notice a huge difference. Unless you're really good at coding, in which case just go use Game Maker.

I'd only recommend 2k3 at this point if you want the easiest option for some sort of pixel horror game. There's very little you can do to customize it compared to newer engines.

VX Ace is easier to use all around for entry level developers and for seasoned veterans. It has a lot of support, resource packs and scripts. And if you can get It cheap, all the better!

Just because something is newer doesn't make it better.
Wow,

I am amazed at how great of a forum community you all have here, it's so active and helpful/friendly.. very refreshing to see :)

Thanks everybody!! I'll definitely be coming back here more once I get into the game maker!

You've convinced me, VX Ace is going to be the way to go, and what a deal if I can get it for 70% Off!! :D

Since that is going to be my choice I'll be making my purchase soon, does anybody happen to have any saved links that they could share with me for some helpful Start Up Tips/Guides for getting into VX Ace? Anything like good practices that I can learn to follow to make my workflow easier? Things like that, thanks again!!

Cheers
